Definitely seems to be his final game - Clive whatshisface referrred to that in his last commentary. If that's the only USP that ITV have though, that's slightly desperate. Interestingly any reference has been 'his last game
on ITV
, so might a switch back be on the cards?
He announced at the end of last year that he wouldn't be renewing his contract with ITV sport when it runs out in August. His agent was reported as saying he wouldn't do any more live sport, but was looking at doing some non-sporting shows for both ITV and the BBC.
The only way they would get more people to watch would be if ITV declared no adverts for the whole programme.
It gives BBC a tremendous advantage no matter how poor their presenters or commentators are / were.
Though, interestingly, in recent years, ITV has tended to get bigger audiences for its exclusive games than the BBC (until the recent Portugal v England game), and the FA Cup is definitely not the puller for the BBC that it used to be.

I'd imagine the reason ITV get higher audiences for their exclusive matches is that they often go for the matches that they know will pull bigger audiences. For example in the world cup ITV had the later Sunday, and earlier weekday match, leaving the BBC with the later weekday group game and then the second round game. It makes sense for both sides; ITV get two certain England games, and BBC get the first call on others and the first knockout game, if applicable.
