Well, Derren Brown: How to Beat the Casino, fell spectacularly on its arse and very nearly didn't happen at all.
It was... interesting. The theory behind it was plausible, so to be only one number out on the final result was very bad luck.

Of course it wasn't bad luck, it's obvious it wasn't a real casino so they were never going to give that chap any more money. This way they saved money (which they were never going to give away) and make it look like the trick kinda of worked.

He did seem to get confused over which type of wheel he was using - he said the real odds would be 37-1, which is true for a double-zero wheel, but a single-zero wheel was used - so the odds are 36-1.

The point of tonight's #derrenbrown show was an attempt to re-introduce some suspense in to his future shows. #fail Casino live? Eh? No...

Hmm.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one to notice the subliminal flashes of what appeared to be a totally white background with a drawing of a man with a moustache sitting in a chair. The film on its own was effectively nothing more than moving lines. The previous subliminal flashes is probably key. Without them, the film doesn't work. In my own opinion.

Nah. It's just that if you tell everyone that if they stay sitting it's because they are "talented", "creative", and "sexy" (okay, I made that one up), some of them will play along (consciously or not) - we all like to be flattered. It's basically The Emperor's New Clothes for couch potatoes.

Following Derren's suggested seating helps, because it is just harder to stand up from that position.

Maybe this week Derren was trying to throw off everyone who thinks he just does lame tricks and uses stooges (disclaimers notwithstanding), but to me that just made it even more pants.
