This sounds interesting. The publicity says that while BBC One are showing The National Lottery Draw live (?) on BBC One on Wednesday, Derren Brown will be trying to predict the numbers live (?) on Channel 4 at the same time. He will then apparently tell us how he did it on Friday at 21:00.

It will be interesting to see how the Channel 4 programme handles showing The Lottery Draw. I wonder if they will have a live feed of BBC One.

Does The Lottery Draw really take place at 22:35? I always thought it was recorded earlier and BBC One just slot it in to the schedules wherever it fits.

Be careful if you have set a reminder for this by pressing green during the promos. It seems that it adds the Friday programme but not the Wednesday one.

This should be a good series. I like his plan for episode 2 - freezing the viewer so they can't change channels!

Not just C4 but the entire family of channels too - the first time they've done it.

Don't get it though - he gets the numbers totally wrong it'll be seen as a complete failure, he gets it near and they'll be an immediate enquiry into how 'random' the numbers really are!

Be interesting to see if they get a live feed, I'll guess not.

Could be something to do with digital delays?

I think if the main draw is broadcast, the broadcast is live. Occasionally some weekdays may not have been shown and the numbers broadcast later as a slide?

Some sequences in the live show may be recorded (Dream Number?) - but the main draws, and programme presentation, are live I think.

Well, E4 anyway. Nothing on More 4 or Film 4 as far as I can see. That seems like an odd scheduling decision to put the same show on two of their channels (although not the first time, Channel launches such as Film 4 have been on Channel 4 and the newly launched channel before. The E4 only Big Brother from a couple of years ago also broadcast its first half hour on E4 and Channel 4). I wonder if it is some how relevant to the 'trick' that it is on two channels.

To be honest, I doubt the show will be anything like the publicity claims. There has to be some kind of twist that turns out to be more impressive than the claims in the publicity. I'm sure they could get away with having BBC One on a monitor on the set, couldn't they? Channels have done that kind of thing before. It will be odd having one show relying on the timings of another show without help from the first shows gallery though. I don't know of that being done before. I imagine the Channel 4 show will have to fill quite a bit but wouldn't be able to go to a VT because they don't really know when they need to be watching BBC One live.

Lets hope BBC One don't extend News at Ten or there isn't a technical problem with the ball machine or something.

Let's hope the BBC News at Ten DOES run over! Then it will make for some interesting telly Laughing

I completely agree with Asa on this. I didn't know about this programme until I saw a trailer on C4 earlier this evening and the first thing that went through my mind was exactly what Asa posted. If he doesn't predict it at all, it will be a total flop and an embarrassment for both him and C4. If he does, then there will be outrage at the fixing of the lottery. It's going to be fun either way.

I have absolutely no idea how on earth this could work but it's going to be fascinating.

Hopefully not as lame as "Ah, that number's 42 and I guessed 40, that was only 2 away!" etc.

Here's hoping for something Septic Peg-esque. Wink

"I predict the next lottery number to be between 1... and 49."

I'd have thought that it'll be something along the lines of picking envelopes and selecting the numbers before before the draw and then revealing the choice after the draw has taken place. Whateevr it is he'll have done it enough times to know he can get it roughly or almost correct.

It'll be interesting to see if he gets a mention on BBC1

What's the story with the scheduling, is there a different 'event' every Wednesday and then a 'how it was done' on Fridays?
