Channel name changes are abit different to defunct channels. Most of what cwathen listed were merely name changes (ie the UK > UKTV; UK LIVING > LIVING > LivingTV change).

Does anyone remember SKY ARTS - it was only on analogue Marco Polo just after Sky's "merger" (ha! Very Happy ) with BSB, and I think it was a contractual commitment with the (then) ITC. It was quietly dropped shortly afterwards, probably cos they moved the MP sats to point at Scandanavia.

Yes, I think it was based around a Sky News feed with the Arts filliing the back half hours.

There was also Simply Money.

The channel that Simply (had no) Money Laughing

Simply Money became Simply Shopping as a way of clawing back the money that had been invested in the channel. Simply Shopping also got into trouble and got bought by another company. It still exsists now though: http://www.simplyshoppingtv.co.uk/

There was also The Money Channel which did the same sort of thing as Simply Money but also closed down.... oh the irony of financial channesl closing due to financial problems!

TLC
TCC
EBN
The Parliamentary Channel
BBC Choice
BBC Knowledge
The Children's Channel

TCC and The Childrens Channel were the same thing, they ended up as Trouble TV

Choice and Knowledge were effectively renames to BBC3 and 4

The Parliamentary Channel became BBC Parliament - the cable companies that owned TPC didn't want to pay for it any more and the beeb took it over

TLC isn't defunct, it was renamed to 'Discovery Home And Leisure' and then to 'Discovery Real Time'

EBN was absorbed into CNBC

The Money Channel's (very cheap) facilities were then used by Avago.
I think Nation217 is also in that building, but I don't know if they are linked with Avago.

Just been looking on TV ark and see that Bravo just changed from what is was to what is now overnight. I always thought it was a just gradual thing. Interesting

It's funny isn't it that a classic movies channel should be repositioned as a 'lads' channel.

There was a gradual change. It went from films to classic programmes (timewarp television) to thrillers and then went towards more male orientated, then finally to a 'lads' channel

I think its a case of it actully being an entirely different channel but just the 'name' has been left the same. Nice to know what did happen to alot of these channels.

The Children's Channel > TCC > Trouble.

I'll never forget the programming the childrens channel provided Crying or Very sad im a full grown adult but would love to see some of it again.
