I think this thread is increasingly listing every ceased TV channel in the last 10 years or so, rather than just ones carried by Sky Digital which is what I assume the thread starter meant.

Similar concept to HVC which showed dodgy mainstream movies and soft porn.

Well I can see where DJ Dave is coming from, originally TNT's ident up until 1999 claimed it as 'TNT Classic Movies' which is nothing different than what TCM was doing. Then in 1999 they changed it, TNT became more like it's American counterpart by showing Entertainment and rather low budget material, and TCM was launched at the same time, but it took up the old 24 hour TNT Classic Movies channel, where as the new TNT was only ever available on Sky Analogue and Analogue Cable, the channel was never on Digital and folded quietly sometime in 2000.

Are you sure about this? As I remember it, TNT (in the UK) broadcast low quality trash during the day, but was only carried on cable. Astra only carried it from 7PM (timeshare with Cartoon Network), at which point in the day it changed it's branding to TNT Classic Movies and showed classic films the same as TCM, but this was the only version of TNT ever to be carried on Astra.
TCM was then launched in late 1999 as a 24 hour digital classic movie channel, and it replaced TNT on Astra (albeit still timeshared from 7PM-6AM with Cartoon Network, which it continued to do until the analogue satellite serivce was pulled in 2001). The only difference this made to Astra viewers was the loss of the friday night wrestling, which was the only non-TCMish material satellite viewers ever saw (as a result many people probably just assumed the channel had rebranded)..
I never remember TNT (classic movies or otherwise) and TCM both existing at the same time on satellite.

Not quite that at 7pm on TNT on wednesday you could have seen the TV adaptation of John Grisham's The Client which was quite good and at weekends there would be WCW wrestling.
They only showed movies on TNT after 9pm during the week, then in late 2000 they changed it to TCM which was a shame I used to like watching some of the stuff they showed on TNT

From what I remember up until 1996 Cartoon Network and TNT only had one channel to share, CN had it from 5am to 7pm and then TNT had it from 7pm to 5am. Then it changed, some Cable operators now carried both channels 24 hours a day, some went along with the new schedule for the Satellite version, which was CN was now broadcasting from 5am to 9pm, and TNT from 9pm to 5am, now AIUI TNT's schedule was full of more Classic Films etc, though I may be mistaken. I remember at 8.59pm when CN would always show the same Promo saying switch to Cable as it's a Non-stop service.
Also TNT used to start at 8pm on a Friday because of WCW Wrestling, then switched to Films at 10pm or so. When the new TNT closed in 2000, they carried on showing Wrestling on an opt out service on CN/TCM Analogue on Fridays, but this was rather short lived.
