Yes the lack of HD on either side is very annoying to me. Can I propose a subquestion of whether people switch to SD for short opt-outs on Breakfast or GMB. I watch ITV HD and can't be bothered to switch for such a short period of time so just watch the Granada GMB bulletin.
EDIT - Whereas with a longer 30 minute bulletin I would switch to SD simply to avoid watching oneness.
It’s a fair point UBox, I did admittedly forget that ITV HD is not regionalised across the country, my apologies. I’m used to having Granada Reports in HD (or upscaled before they went HD).

I avoid regional news bulletins now, not for lack of HD. I use Twitter following local radio and TV and click any link I need info on. The weekday BBC local blog covers it all too.

I think ITV HD broadcasts an upscaled
ITV West Country News
on Sky 178 here, but it's not my programme of choice.
I prefer BBC Spotlight, but that is downscaled to SD on 101. I watch BBC One SD in the mornings to get the regional opts in Breakfast, so the TV remains on that for the News at Six when get home from work, and for Spotlight at 6:30.
It's frustrating that Plymouth has the ability to broadcast regional programmes in HD following their expensive upgrade, but can't do so on any platform. I suspect those in Manchester & London feel the same.

I do feel the same actually.

I could have sworn ITV Westcountry E/West is HD, from when I last flicked around on Sky. Looked pin sharp to me, especially as both editions come from Bristol.

Yes, I'm sure that the Brizzle news studio was already HD capable a while before West Country appeared on Sky/Freesat ITV HD.
Sadly, those of us watching on Freeview or Virgin still get sodding Central HD. Even if only the "HTV" version was carried pan-regionally, that'd arguably be sort-of "better" (or at least "less wrong", so to speak) for e.g. Cornwall viewers.

Genuinely unintentional.
