If they did, all they would need is one contestant/audience member to tell the press, Ofcom, both, and thus things would become
seriously
wobbly.
Did they broadcast the episode where someone knocked the £125,000 box onto the floor and it broke open?
They did indeed. The remaining boxes and the £100,000 box which had been knocked on to the floor were taken back, and the amounts inside were shuffled by the independent adjudicator before being re-sealed and continuing with the game.

This seems like a very similar situation.
Yeah I remember that, think it was Tom who knocked the box off and was very embarassed. Wasn't there also a game during that season where sam opened her box at the end of the game and the money label fell off and they all roared with laughter because it was such an unlucky game?
Yeah - nothing too out of the ordinary here. As mentioned theres the show when the box was knocked open, plus one where they had a power cut and another similar to this scenario where a box was opened and it was blank - but on that occasion the card was loose in the box, and I think the very last box to be opened in the show.
This is where DOND is at it's best - the unpredictability factor. Can't imagine Noel was best pleased with the crew though (not that it's their fault but he's the type of guy who looks to point the finger at someone).
Noel completely over-reacted really - but I think he feels the integrity of the show is very important, and the key aspect of it is that nobody but the "independent adjudicator" knows where the money is.
And although I'm sure the money was put back into the boxes randomly, I think when they returned the remaining players, including the Vicar in the chair, should have reselected their boxes at random just to ensure there wasn't the temptation to stick a big number in the players box as means of compensation.
And I bet if it had been the penny, not the quarter million missing they'd have given the player the option to just carry on without reshuffling the money - though I suppose they had to check all the other boxes had been filled correctly.
All they had to do is ask what the independant adjudicator put in that box, no reshuffling required and let the IA check to see if the other boxes were filled as ordered.

I think you mean what the independent adjudicator meant to put in the box.
Sounds like Noel is reading very strictly from a script given to him by a PR person. He's only the mouthpiece, it's not him that's being extremely strict. Compare what he said to his initial reaction.
I think they handled it very well, considering it was a total c*ck up by the Independent Adjudicator.
The player was given the two options and decided to carry on after re-shuffling the remaining boxes (including his own). If anything, I suppose it shows the integrity of the game. It was also good to watch!
