Although of course the luck was with her the show is much more about judgement and nerve than luck, although to be fair with the luck she had the judgement was pretty much a no-brainer. I think with the top two left you'd have to be offered £180k+ to even consider not going on.
And really don't all quiz shows come down to luck ultimately - with Millionaire and Million Pound Drop etc. the luck of the questions is surely a big factor. Although of course it's different on your sofa, with Million Pound Drop last week I could have got through the entire eight questions for one couple and won the full million, but on the next set I'd have been out on question one.
Deal or No Deal though has evolved into a show I can't bear to watch every day, but something I'll sit through if I catch it every now and again. Indeed I turned yesterdays episode off within a few minutes and only happened across the final stage when channel hopping.
Seriously was an extraordinary game. I don't buy this whole 'she played well' and 'she deserved it' business because it is after all pot-luck, but from what I saw in her on the show I think she's the sort of person who will really benefit from this money. As she said, she just wanted £5000. Very modest.
