DOND isn't like a normal quiz show. Once you've seen one episode, you've pretty much seen all of them.

Complete opposite. With DOND, every game is totally different. A normal quiz show is like what you say. The BBC slot in repeats of Weakest Link every week amongst new ones, I bet the viewers don't even notice.

About time I guess.

I wonder if they'll ever up the highest prize money to £1m.

I don't think it would work with higher amounts as you'd get high offers of £30-£50,000 early in the game so people looking for a substantial sum, but nots hundreds and thousands, would turn up, take the first offer and then go.

Worth noting too that Laura remains the only person to win the jackpot in conventional play. Alice won it after taking the Bankers Gamble (IIRC it was 1p/£250,000) whilst Suzanne had the advantage of opening boxes in the final round individually.

If it was 'normal' play, I'm sure she would have still said 'no deal' at five box.

It was a poor offer really at £30,000 - but I suspect it would have been higher had she had to go on further as in the one by one box situation it's worth tempting them to go that one box further in the hope they hit the £250k.

Seriously was an extraordinary game. I don't buy this whole 'she played well' and 'she deserved it' business because it is after all pot-luck, but from what I saw in her on the show I think she's the sort of person who will really benefit from this money. As she said, she just wanted £5000. Very modest.

Does anyone sit down in this game anymore by the way or do they always do this walking round business?

At least with Weakest Link you get different questions each day.

I have got back into DOND recently after a long gap of not watching it, and yes contestants do seem to be on their feet more and seem to have to kiss or hug everyone that opens a box!
Also in the early days the banker seemed to have set sums of money he would offer, now it appears much more random.

Except for the 2 days a week you get repeats.

Deal or No Deal has already made many more episodes of the Weakest Link, despite being on air for half of the run it.

I bet no-one has an episode of In It To Win It or The Weakest Link they remember for ever, but I imagine regular DOND viewers do.

I'd say it's the best game show ever broadcast on British TV. It can be so different every day because it's built round the different stories and personalities of the contestants and the wings.

Well they do have the 1p kiss which is more of a small ritual but I don't think they stand up much more than they ever did.

In fact in early episodes Noel would sometimes let the player open their own box at the end, it's now set in stone they must be behind the pound table.

I don't agree. I used to love it when it first started but as per it was on too much. Why can't gameshows be simply about the game rather than sob stories? That's why I think Millionaire didn't have big winners towards the end; they were picking people over stories rather than ability.

I used to watch DOND every day for the first two years, until it became apparent the producers were picking the same personality types and background stories all the time. When you've seen 100 'look how mad I am' contestants, they're no longer unique and interesting, they're just annoying. Then you've got loads of retired dinner ladies who want to go on a cruise, students who want to pay off their loan; all of them seemingly related to someone who's died of a terminal illness or overcome one themselves. It's the same handful of people all the time, just in different bodies.

I used to watch it every day, until about a year ago.

I found myself skipping the first 15 minutes to avoid the requisite sob story; then I got to the point where I was only watching the final 15 minutes because that was the most interesting.
