I've just switched onto Channel 4 and found "Ten Million Pounds" being shown on the board with everybody hugging and celebrating. Can anyone tell me what i've just missed?
AFAIK the Banker has now given out ten million pounds over the programme's entire run, and it was promised that if Ron won over £7280.11, they would dance at the end of the programme.

Ah right. Thanks.
You never thought they'd upped the jackpot a bit since the last time you watched did you?
£10m in two years - the question is if the phone-in competitions don't return, will C4 be able to afford to pay up for too much longer?
I still don't understand why they've pulled the plug on the competition completely after initially saying it would be retained but with all profits to charity. Competitions are supposed to be returning to Paul O'Grady soon according to reports this week.
Isn't it time they switched over to the US-style graphics and set? Almost every international version has/will debut(ed) with or change(d) to it, and they make our version look appaulingly cheap. Which do you like better?

So we switch from something that's cheap and cheerful to something that's expensive and dire?
The general dynamics would stay the same, the show would keep it's "fun studio stuff," but the colours would change and the logo would change. It's not about the cost, it's about looking professional.
The UK and US version have different formats and therefore deserve there separate identities.
The US version is a Saturday night, lets stare at some models wearing nothing and opening boxes. Whereas the UK version is, lets have a cup of tea and have an afternoon snooze in front of some morons chatting and opening boxes.
That's not necessarily the image that look puts out. In Australia, they use the US look, and the format is quite similar to ours. Malaysia and the Phillippines both have "zany" versions of the show, with the US look.
As I've said before in this thread, I much prefer the UK to the US version. It's a light entertainment family game show, which you can quite happily sit and watch with the kids after school or Great Auntie Gladys without fear of anyone being offended.
The US version is aimed at an entirely different audience. Americans have to sensationalise everything and include all the brash and tacky sexual innuendo of a Las Vegas Casino show. They merge that with the excessive emotion, screaming and whooping that you see from your average american when they find something as little as an extra sausage on their plate in a hotel at breakfast
(believe me I've seen them do it).
New Zealands Deal or No Deal is ****, and being able to watch Australia's one too on another channel, I much prefer the Aussie one out of UK US and NZ.
3 Weeks after the NZ DOND began they changed the set, but it looked no better.. here are some caps of the first version of the NZ DOND set. There is an audience but you just cant see it... NZ's is based on the US version.. which is crap!
I concur. What role do the brainless bimbos play, other than to open a shiny briefcase?
The UK version has the next contestants opening the boxes. They do support and wish the best for the current player because the game is random and they are not competing against each other.
If I was playing the game I would much rather I had someone I knew wishing me well rather than some air-head wannabe TV presenter or ex-porn star looking for a better future.
