some1 has already won the £250,000 and the episode is due to be aired between 5th-10th January i think (sorry iv forgotten the exact date!)

That is true, the contestant is in the show already Very Happy Very Happy

Well, as someone said it's always just a coincidence how the big games end up at the weekend! Laughing

Is the show staying on Sundays for the foreseeable future then, or will it return to Saturdays now the BBC1/ITV1 schedules aren't so busy!

The end of todays episode showed a hand taking one of the contestants' stockings. I wonder if this was the hand of the banker?

I've heard Sunday 7th January mentioned!

Really enjoyed tonight's episodes - it may have been lazy scheduling on C4's part but it's one of the few things we all watched and they did make the effort!

They did the selection the fairest way possible under the circumstances, letting the players decide who would compete in the £500,000 - though they probably ended up with the same player I'd have imagined the producers chose.

Along with that a couple of nice twists.

In the first (£250,000) show along with the offer the player was given the chance to open special gift boxes containing mystery prizes. She dealt at £2400 + 2 gifts, winning an extra £1000 and a weekend in Paris - and avoiding a rejected Christmas present from the banker - a pair of the bankers boxers!

The second show in addition to the £500,000 jackpot had a twist first used a few weeks ago of an offer after every box in the final round. Unlike last time though, the banker made it clear early on in the game that if the player continued to that point that scenario would play out.

As for the show itself - I'll spoiler tag it for the benefit of anyone planning to watch a recording or repeat:

I'm glad the £500,000 went pretty early on and by the second round we were back to a pretty much normal game. As I've said before I think the £250,000 is pitched about right meaning the offers cause genuine dilemmas. A bigger prize means bigger offers and you might as well take the first and go home!

P.S. Back to the first game and although the offers were stupidly small (£12 then 12p) it was nice to see the banker back to these ways. Lately players have been taking out the big numbers early on and still getting offers of over £6000 - in the early days losing the £250,000 in round one generally meant an offer in the hundreds rather than thousands!

P.P.S. Forgot the most important thing - we finally saw the banker at the end too!

It was quite funny that the
£500,000 went early
as it didn't have any effect on the game at all

It's like those shows where they would match the viewers game with the actual game and the contestant ends up winning a few hundred quid!

Did anyone capture it by any chance?

Guess what DVD game we all played this Christmas Day. Crikey! Its slow when you choose the boxes. My cousin accidently dealt at £900 - mind you we soon got rid of the remaining £20k and £10k boxes so we beat the banker anyway.

Noel is so cheesy, he must have felt like a right prat when filming it. "Oh bad luck, thats not what we wanted but do carry on" etc. Laughing

As for the actual Christmas £500k edition on C4......we missed it!

even still if you lost the £250'00 BUT still got £100'00 and you get offered £6000 its still not a lot! compared to it!

those random shots of noel that appear for 2 seconds are very funny and also the reaction shots - you can see them with no expression standing there and suddenly clapping Laughing

i won 10p on my game - after rejecting 36k

It's said to be irritatingly slow - and annoying you have to reject each box you don't want to open before getting to the one you want, and anyhow, it's probably pre-determined the order the money appears regardless of boxes chosen.

I suspect though it's deliberately not as good as it's meant to be so they can bring out a new and improved version next year!
