I bet there win the 1p in each game!

I wonder if they'll change the selection process for these games as usually it's just when the producers decide - but when the money varies leaving it down to solely to the producers seems a bit unfair.

If you've not read the article, basically double episodes on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with double the jackpot as the £15,000 box is replaced with £500,000.

It should also mean that as long as it's in play, the offers will be higher too.

I bet you someone wins the £250,000 in one of the shows - so they'll create their first quarter millionaire but technically they won't have won the jackpot.

I think they should do what the US version of Millionaire did and increase the jackpot ( by £1000 a day ) each day it isn't won.

I'm not convinced that would work, you'd end up in a perpetual positive feedback loop where people take offers because they're higher, so it would never get won, if you don't increase some of the lower prizes to increase with it.

The top prize in the French show these days is a million euros (albeit split with the home contestant). If the final two boxes are low and high, the bank normally doesn't make a cash offer and forces them to choose a box. That'd be one way to get round the potential anti-climax. But would it "fit" our show?

I reckon this is a dry run for taking the top prize up if the quarter-mill gets won.

I can't believe they are showing 2 episodes on Christmas Day, surely nobody wants or has the time to watch 1 hour 45 minutes worth of Deal or No Deal on Christmas Day. They should have dropped the teatime editions then

I've just been told by the producer that Friday's episode peaked just shy of five million viewers. Which isn't bad going, obviously.

Well maybe, just maybe, some people will watch one edition and others will watch the other one. Just a thought, mind..

It all depends what the BBC and ITV are showing. Quite often as many people want an alternative to their flagship programmes as want to watch them.

I must admit though I think two, especially on Christmas Day, is unneccessary.

I've always thought they should do this with the viewers game, having say 5 boxes containing:

£1k, £2k, £3k, £4k
and then a bigger sum in the fifth box which grows by £1k each time it is not found (starting at say £20k).

Would add a bit more to the end of each show, and they wouldn't actually end up giving away that much more money than currently.

Another alternative is to link the money available in the viewers game to the live game, i.e. have the intrigue of the banker being involved in determining how much money they can give away, depending on how good a day he has had with the contestant.

Many countries on the continent have the contestant share their winnings fifty/fifty with the home player. I'd be all for the Matchplay thing, as used on the anniversary show, where the home viewer wins what the hotseat player wins going full time.

I quite like your Banker idea, but unless the viewer knows from the outset what the prizes could be, I'm not sure it would fly.

I guess with the viewer comp the best way to give it a twist is to give the viewers the chance to accept an offer or open a box.

Difficult though as it's not live - the only way it could be done really is giving viewers the option when they ring.

one good idea that comes from the Oz version (the first version I ever saw) is that the contestants behind the boxes could guess at what's in their box and if they are correct they win some money (in case of the UK version it could either be £250 or £500)
