They're not looking for any more contestants. Over 80,000 people have applied. So if you're hoping to go on the show, we'll see you in 3005.

How did they apply? I never see any of these things advertised.

Originally they placed ads in the Bristol Evening Post as I recall.

For one week only in June, it’s Double Deal Week on Deal Or No Deal. Noel will present two exciting new episodes of Deal Or No Deal every day- both in the afternoon and the evening.

During each peak- time episode during Double Deal Week, a past contestant returns to the studio. Contestants from the Deal Or No Deal Hall of Fame return to share their experiences since they left the hit show.

Viewers have the chance to double their cash prize as during the first daytime episode the highest potential cash prize in the viewer phone in competition is £10, 000. If no one wins the prize, it rolls over to the next episode where viewers will be able to double their money. This continues every day until the highest cash prize is won.

Not sure about this really, it reminds me of when ITV used to throw Who wants to be a Millionaire all over the schedules. It may harm the show in the long term. Maybe they should drop the daytime editions when there is a prime time show. 12 shows in a week is a bit much

When they say that former contestants will be returning to the studio, I hope they don't mean to play the game again, why should they get a second shot ?

No, it's mainly to catch up with them and see how the show has changed their lives.

Edmonds bolsters Channel 4 for World Cup kick off

Thursday June 1, 2006

Channel 4 will attempt to prop up Big Brother during the World Cup this month by scheduling Noel Edmonds' hit daytime gameshow Deal or No Deal before it at 8pm for a week.

Deal or No Deal, which has given Channel 4's afternoon schedule a massive ratings boost since launching last autumn, will be stripped daily at 8pm from Sunday June 11 - two days after the World Cup kicks off in Germany.

Channel 4 has scheduled Deal or No Deal in this evening slot to try and bolster its peak time performance and give Big Brother - which will follow Deal or No Deal at 9pm - a helping hand during the first few days of the World Cup.

BBC1 or ITV1 will be broadcasting a live World Cup match from the group stage of the tournament every night at 8pm during that week.

None of the 8pm kick offs that week will feature England. However, Deal or No Deal will be up against matches including Italy v USA, Brazil v Croatia, Germany v Poland and France v South Korea, which could all prove popular with UK audiences.

During Euro 2004, matches with no England involvement shown live in peak time still attracted healthy audiences, with Spain v Portugal watched by nearly 9 million viewers and Holland v Germany attracting 7.8 million.

Deal or No Deal will continue to be shown in its regular 4.15pm daytime slot during the week of its foray into peak time.

In the afternoons, the gameshow regularly attracts up to 3.5 million viewers, dominating its time slot.

Well, an advert is now running for this on Channel Four. It seems to be called a Double Deal week. It's confuding the sh*t out of me, but finding one on my TV Guide, a "guest" is the man who founded the 1p club. What does this mean?

P.s. Noel, last Friday, was a guest on Frday Night with Johnathan Ross, where he said that two people have won the £250,000, but C4 will not be broadcasting them. Ross wasn't sure if Noel was joking, but these episodes are due for broadcast in October, so there could be a chance then.

To clarify, Noel never said the £250k episodes would not be broadcast - he said, he'd already recorded them.

He said the episodes will not be shown - "to keep the intrigue" - and the contestants had been "paid off" in return.

He also said there were dwarfs under the desks who changed the amounts in the boxes with the same sincerity Rolling Eyes

Fair play to him, he can act. He could end up in 'Hollyoaks' when the novelty of DOND soon wears off

Love the trailer currently airing!

And what a strange show tonight!

Starting with a swap instead of an offer was interesting and gave a new dimension to the game - but why the banker went on with ridiculously high offers I just don't get!

£250k still in play, people do strange things. The offers aren't ridiculously high IMO, I thought £59k with the £250k still in play was a bit on the low side considering that £50k was still there.

Maybe Glen decided to be generous today. I'd have walked at £26k, never mind £47k and £59k.

Anyway, the "banker profile" page on Wikipedia's Deal or No Deal UK page is looking a bit fat now with the new revealings that the Banker likes swimming.

The founding member of the '1p club' was a gentleman called Nick from Essex. He was the first player to walk away with a penny. I can't remember how many people have now 'won' a penny.

I think the 'guest' just comes on the show, and talks about how the show "has changed their lives". What I could do with a penny.... Rolling Eyes

Other notable contestants are going to be interviewed: The first ever contetsant, the £100,000 winner and so on

They were really high compared to previous games.

There was a game a few months ago when a player got to the fourth offer with the top eight boxes in play - and got an offer of £54,000.

Yesterday at the same stage the player had five reds (inc £50k, £100k, £250k) and three blues (inc 1p) in play - yet got offered £47,000. That board is not that uncommon - but usually the offer at the stage would be less than half of that.

Again when the £100k got knocked out in the next round the offer "would have been" £59,000 - with £50k, £250k and three other low amounts (either blue or low red). The only way she could beat that is taking the £250k to the end.

It just seemed really high.
