That's quite normal, especially on a programme that's recorded as-live.

Well when I started watching it, I always thought it was live. It eventually dawned on me, but it doesn't really make much sense if they left it in, but acted as it would be out of the show. Then again, why were the cameras still being operated correctly?

I wouldn't say that they were being operated correctly.... lots of odd shots.

Cameramen and vision mixers don't just stop everything and wander off during a recording break and they've got to point them somewhere! Also for those in the gallery that's their only view of what's happening in the studio.

No, what I meant was they filmed at the correct points and times. I.e. when Noel was explaining to Massimo about what was happening.

By the way, you can hear the box hitting the floor as Massimo goes to thank emma at box number 7.

I love the 'The money isn't real' disclaimer at the bottom of the game. As if anyone is going to ask for their money. Very Happy

Right, well seeing as noone has mentioned it thus far, Gaz today became the 2nd highest winner in the shows' history, earning a cool £100,000. It was set up to be an abysmal game, where the 100k was the only significant figure left, but he gambled right the way to the end and was rewarded for his courage.

Am I right in thinking that the highest ever winner went home with £110,000?

£120,000. The last two boxes were £750 and £250,000. That was in the early days when the late offers were more generous. Nowadays the lower box would probably have to be at least the £50,000 to produce a six-figure offer.

I'm sure someone else won over £100,000 in the early day too - around £105,000.

Great game though today - probably the best show so far that really sums up the game!

Also notice the show now has a sponsor - the Phone Book of all things!

If you analyse it most of the shots used at this time are generic cutaways (e.g generic crowd shots or crew / contestants wandering aimlessly / the gameboard). When Noel is explaining to Massimo what is happening you don't actually see Noel's face, so who knows if this audio matches that clip. All the shots used appear to be from just two cameras and the editor has cleverly mixed this together.

Indeed. There's a slight (but important difference) between recorded as-live and the programme being shown as-live. The show is recorded as-live (ie: they keep going!) but it is clearly still edited down to 45 minutes. Just like WWTBAM and many other shows...

That was an "offer" made after the deal.

Amazing show today. Who'd have thought after such a bad start that he'd win the £100k?

There's only been two active offers over £100,000 in the programme's history - Jennifer in November (£120,000, which she took) and Kirsty last month (£125,000, which she didn't).

Yep, they started yesterday. I'm surprised they didn't work the Deal or No Deal phone into the sponsorship ads.
