We know it's not random - it's never been said it is! It's just the contestants don't know when they will be picked!

Why Lucy was made to wait so long though was a mystery. The 50 box thing though was pretty decent and I'm sure she'll claw some cash back selling it on E-Bay.

I've watched shows in the past thinking it be nice to have some of their former fellow contestants in the audience - but today I think showed it doesn't work.

And as seems to always be the case - those that seem to deserve a decent payoff go home with next to nothing. Her own fault though - she really should have took the £7,500 - but she got sucked into the game!

I found it very ironic as she was called upon so often as the "oracle" of the game. (Though in my opinion she said exactly the same thing each day) - In the end she failed to take note of her own advice and went away with peanuts. She deserved bigger money, but so often when she gave over cautious advice to contestants shows she fell victim to the old "Do as I say, not as I do."

Shame.

And the thing with her being there for 50 shows makes me want the selection to be random now. Even if a contestant gets picked on their first day - we'd be more likely to accept that. At the start, most contestants appeared for a maximum of 22 shows - as it rolled on each time someone new was added. But now it just seems to milk a contestant for all their worth. Get a member of the audience to pull a ticket or something. Anything.

If it was truly random though I think she could have been there alot longer.

Quite a few people are there for between 25 and 35 shows. I think the shortest I've seen is 6 shows. I'd personally put the upper limit at 40 shows.

Not a bad idea - that way any contestant would only be landed with a 2 1/2 week stay in Bristol.

That is possible. The contestants pick their box before the show by drawing out a ball from a velvet sack/bag (we saw on tv for the first and only time to draw the winner of the holiday on St Paddy's Day).
The only slight problem with a random draw is that in theory you could have someone there for months and months if they were never picked out.

Another unlucky game today. Janet kept taking out the boxes that she shouldn't. How she took out both the 100K and 250K in one round was so unfortunate. Then the 5K in the last round.

To quote Glenn Hugill:

""No it's not random. For some reason the Radio Times said it was, but that didn't come from us. It's always been a selection otherwise we can't guarantee people that they will play within a reasonable time period/have people in the audience etc. The players for each week are selected on Monday and confirmed in threes each weekday morning."

If Lucy wouldn't have been able to do fifty shows, you can guarantee she'd have got in a lot sooner. I suspect this decision was also based on the fact that a) she lived nearby and b) I gather she was looking for TV exposure.

The Bankers identity has been revealed - or has it?

On the credits tonight (April 1st remember) the Banker was listed as "Richard Oldman" rather than "Himself". Worth noting the Executive Producer is named as "Richard Osman".

Also, before the main titles in Noel's opening piece, where the box usually pops up on the gameboard behind him saying 'Deal Or No Deal', tonight it said 'Noel Or No Noel' instead.

I suppose as he has the ultimate purse strings he is the banker! However I'm pretty sure that Glen Hugill is the actual banker
