So, do you Brits like DOND?
Our version (which has been described at the most famous) has been doing wonders for The Seven Network and and it's lead-in: 7 News.
I think the answer is yes! It's doing wonders for C4 - generally their highest rated programme of the day despite going out at 4.15pm in the afternoon.

you have it THAT early? What's does it lead into?
Looks like Channel 4 are thinking about doing a primetime version, like the Weakest Link.
It is a fantastic show, you do find yourself working out how you'd play the game, deciding when you'd deal. I read this in the Guardian Guide the other week, quite funny:

It's doing wonders for NBC at the moment as well, admittedly th NBC version is going up against repeats but it is getting upto 14 million viewers!!
Digital Spy reporting now the NBC series has been renewed for a new run in March.
There is quite a nice feature on MediaGuardian today (link above) with a gallery looking at the show around the world - only one picture per country but you can pretty much tell which are similar to our version, and which are more like the Aussie version.
Can't find yesterdays ratings myself either - there not on MediaGuardian or the C4 website.
As for primetime versions - my thinking is leave it where it is! Everytime something is a hit in daytime (or late night) you get the calls for it to be moved to primetime - but the truth is it probably wouldn't rate much better in primetime. I can't think of any shows that have made a real impact when they've moved to primetime.
It's more competitive (DOND only competition now is children's programming, a second rate film and BBC2's tired daytime line up!) - and the show would probably suffer. It either have to be extended to an hour, or cut to 30-minutes - meaning the pacing would suffer. The show is better than endless celebrity specials Weakest Link style - and having regular contestants in a seperate primetime version would damage the continuity of the show.
I say leave it where it is - though an early evening repeat on More4 would be appreciated!
As for it's scheduling - a bit of explanation to non-UK viewers. C4 traditionally have a very strong daytime line up, and throughout the 80s/90s Countdown, the quiz that launched C4, was often the top rated programme for the channel.
In recent years though C4 have performed much better in peaktime, but with BBC1 and ITV1 showing kids programming, the daytime schedule is still very important.
Earlier this year long running Countdown host Richard Whitely died, and the launch of Deal or No Deal coincided with the return of Countdown with new host Des Lynam, which airs immediately before DOND. It's certainly true to say airing after Countdown bought an instant audience to the show - but Deal or No Deal is now bringing in an extra million viewers and regularly topping C4's ratings.
Deal or No Deal leads into Richard and Judy - one of TV's long estabhlished couples - but hasn't really done anything to improve it's ratings and they are getting slaughtered by ITV's Paul O'Grady show, a more light-hearted and entertaining early evening chat show.

Erm, Countdown hasn't been anything like C4's top rating show for about the last ten years, in fairness.
And the Aussie show is just the original Dutch show in a much smaller studio really.
I can't think of any shows that have made a real impact when they've moved to primetime.
Weakest Link?
Emmerdale (Farm)?
To name buy ttwo.

But hasn't been since it expanded to 45mins and was then moved back to 3:15. The Des Lynam era has revived its fortunes a little bit with a slightly revised timeslot though.

Richard and Judy will be moved at some point I reckon if Paul O'Grady continues to have his way in the ratings war. Weakest Link isn't as fun anymore as Anne isn't as moody as she used to be and the contestants appear to be getting thicker.
Damn it, I watched Deal or No Deal today for the first time and now I'm addicted.... what a simple yet engaging quiz! Nice to see Noel again too!
I had to laugh at all the Bristolian grannies sat in the audience, it reminded me of the audiences that HTV West used to have for their gameshows back in the 1980's. Ironically the show is produced about 300 yards away from the ITV West studios.

I watched a tribute to Richard Whiteley today and some of the people in the audience made it look like the freak show was in town!!
Do we know about the ratings for DOND over the Christmas period yet?
