Good show tonight - back in the high money stakes, with the £100,000 and £250,000 the last two boxes to be opened.
The deal was accepted earlier though at £31,000 - not surprisingly really considering a couple of contestants went home last week with 10p and £10. One more round saw the deal rise to £55,000, then £175,000 when the two boxes remained. She had the £100,000 in her box.

Great edition of Deal or No Deal today. I said earlier in this thread that I reckoned the banker would go for about £175k if the two remaining boxes were £100k and £250k and I happened to be right.
She did well though to avoid the £250k in the show though and it was a pretty much flawless game today's contestant played. Terrible luck though to bottle out at £31k and then find out you'd have took everything else out but the two highest numbers.
Great news though about the recommissioning of the show; though it might not be a bad idea to do something different for the pick-today's-contestant bit. Speaking of which, is Kyle the only player from the first show left now? How come he hasn't been picked yet?

Jon on Saturday was the last of the original contestants, so we're on to the second phase of contestants.
As for the selection - it's a bit of a let down, but I guess it's the way it has to be. It's obviously not random, and never implied to be - but I guess it's some kind of list so that no contestant ends up on the show for years and years without playing!

I agree that it would work better as a 45 minute show if there was an element of competition at the begining to become the player- even if it only lasts 5 minutes.
Having said that, perhaps it's part of the charm of the show that those involved (by the very nature of having to commit to several weeks of continuous filming) aren't the most....how can I put this delicately....intellectual characters. But then this probably makes for better reactions of the players.
For example if I were playing, I would find it hard not to laugh at Noel telling me to play tactically and keep away from the big numbers.
It's a game of pot luck, and you need a certain kind of individual as the contestant to "buy into" the concept and make it more interesting to viewer (see a parallel argument for Space Cadets).

Digital Spy says C4 have commissioned 230 shows to run throughout 2006 - so I guess the Saturday episodes will probably end in the New Year.
The initial run is 65 episodes, taking it through to about mid-January.
The only change I think they need to make is the opening credits, which just look cheap! Everything else works quite well.

But the Saturday episodes are in fact only rating half as well as the weekday episodes.

Actually, the Christmassy touches were introduced on Saturday.
