Also, has anyone actually successfully entered into the competition online on channel4.com/deal?

I tried but I only have a mobile at Uni, it says I have to enter a landline number which I don't have so I don't enter.

Another unlucky swine today - poor James won just a tenner.

Which just shows how cruel this game can be.

Plus of course the guy handed his notice in to appear on the show; wonder if he's finished grovelling yet to get his job back?

On a Countdown matter - the first Octochamp of the Lynam era came through today - Conor Travers at the age of 14 has wiped the floor with the previous eight contestants, an overall score of 890 and almost certainly guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals next June.

To be fair that while Raj was unlucky earlier in the week, James failed to accept a very good deal when he should have. After a few big winners in the early weeks, we've hit the other end of the scale in the last week or so, so I suspect in the next few shows contestants should be more cautious having seen how they can lose everything in just one round!

As for Countdown - finals next June. Far too long a series I think - they'd be best off running this series till around Easter then having two more over the summer and autumn.

Also - re: ratings - click on Overnights in the bottom right or Audience Data > Overnights on the menu.

So, John on today's Deal or No Deal. Took an offer of £16k, turned out he had £35k in his box. Still, that'd DOND for you. Took an interesting strategy though, on the basis that those with high numbers in the box would have low numbers this time round. It went out the window with the £250k though.

Been an interesting set of episodes this week - surely another high winner is imminent?

I found the ratings for Deal Or No Deal, I'm so stupid I didn't look in the writing, I was looking at the graphs. Rolling Eyes

Those figures are very good, with virtually no promotion the show has turned into a hit. Seems to be a similar pattern for Edmonds, Swap Shop and Noel's House Party didn't get much in the way of publicity when they started but eventually turned into big hits.

It's even making news on Digital Spy. Just goes to show that people will still watch Noel if the format is right.

I've always liked Noel as a presenter, he's very good at more serious stuff. Although House Party started well, I never thought he looked entirely comfortable with it, all the humour seemed very forced. I think it was ill judgement on his part to stick with it as long as he did, as the later ones (perhaps the last 3 series) made him look dated and very tacky and damaged his TV career for a while.

So it's good to see him back presenting something that suits his style much better than House Party I think, a great comeback!

The guy who won £16K yesterday made the right choice I think, I suspect that faced with £250 and £35K, he'd have plumped for the £14K the banker was offering - I certainly would've!

Great ratings - 3.2m on Friday, with a 28% audience share - suggesting around 12m are watching TV at 4.15pm on a Friday afternoon.

It matched The Weakest Links ratings, with a higher audience share.

Now, at the risk of turning this into a 4 Daytime thread (is it still called that?) I read today Richard and Judy are thinking about giving up their TV show and moving to France!

Hopefully they will - then C4 will have room for things like The Coach Trip and Come Dine with Me alongside Deal or No Deal and Countdown.

I was thinking that Digital Spy story is wrong Deal or No Deal actually beat The Weakest Link when you read the stats.

Although I like Coach Trip and Come Dine with Me, I don't want to see Richard and Judy leave. STAY!

Well wouldn't you look uncomfortable sharing a show with a retarded pink idiot with yellow spots?

I'm really surprised about DND's success actually; I could never get my head round how viewers could watch 45 minutes of box opening and Noel Edmonds!
