And talking of losing big numbers, how unlucky was Sam today!

Unlucky, but he still beat the banker!

Also, has anyone actually successfully entered into the competition online on channel4.com/deal?

Watching today and one thing I notice is that you never see any cameras despite shots switching from looking at the contestant with their back to the audience to a wide shot of the studio.

Yes, once the very first time I tried, and then again this afternoon. At least it doesn't cost anything, but I reckon these "not all calls will be successful" competitions should be banned. It's like someone coming round a pub with a book of ballot tickets and asking for a pound, but then telling you that you weren't lucky enough to be getting a ticket to enter in the draw.

There is an article in MediaGuardian today looking at these Quiz Channels and that.

Deal or No Deal do make it very clear though in comparison to other shows.

Yes they make it clear but that doesn't make it right!

There's two of em for that shot. Try looking very carefully about half way up the black voids on both sides of the gameboard l.e.d screen.
As for the other cameras. Sometimes you see the shadow of the steadycam wandering around, and you can often see the autocue ped at the very left of the set. There's a small PSC on a tripod at the top of the center set of stairs directly behind the contestant, although this then becomes the audience close-up cam later in the game.

Today I can't even get the web application form to load, never mind get a successful entry.

Great show tonight for all the wrong reasons! I thought Sam was unlucky on Saturday, but Raj didn't even win his bus fare home!

Is 10p the lowest amount ever won on TV?

P.S. Anyone got the "Celebrity Countdown" titles from a few years ago.
They were quite different to the daytime versions and had a logo which had all the "Countdown" letters on top of each other.

IIRC, the theme tune was also different as well. It was a more modern version of the current theme tune, which I absolutely loved. If anyone has an MP3 copy, then I'd love to hear it again.

I was browsing through last years Christmas TV recordings and I recorded '100 Greatest Christmas Moments'.

There was a clip of Richard and Carol on the special Christmas edition of Countdown back in 1997 - where William G hosted the show. Carol won the Conundrum as Richard accidently pushed the button thinking he was starting the clock! Laughing

There's quite an emotional talking head, at the end Richard says:
"I've never won anything before....never....I've never won....anything....hmm"
Probably said in jest - as Richard did, but seems all the more poignant now.
