I hate to say it but, are we thinking Countdown may be axed within the new year?
No chance - it's doing better now than it has for a long time!
The reason Deal or No Deal remains on over Christmas is it's a new programme and airing it in an early-peak slot will help it attract an even wider audience, and probably see it's audience boosted once it returns to it's daytime slot in the New Year - or even possibly test the water for taking it into primetime.
Got used to Des now. At first he was awful, but he's settled in quite well now and it's beginning to feel like he's been there for years!
P.S. Anyone got the "Celebrity Countdown" titles from a few years ago.
They were quite different to the daytime versions and had a logo which had all the "Countdown" letters on top of each other.
I doubt Deal Or No Deal would ever move to prime time. Ch4 and big prime time game shows just don't gel well together. What was the name of that game show they aired a few years ago with Carol Vorderman? it ran alongside Big Brother on Friday Nights and bombed.
The show has found success and they should leave it as it is. besides I think they're already running the risk of premature death by milking it over 6 days. I watched for only the 2nd time on Tuesday and enjoyed it. But if i were to watch it all week i think I'd be sick to death of it by Friday.
Maybe they could consider at looking what happened to 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' and cut it's run down to say 3 times a week?

Does anyone know what Channel 4 would do if the contestant on Deal or No Deal took the first offer from the banker? Maybe they're told to keep going...

I presume that there are contingency arrangements - Another contestant would no doubt join and they'd start from the beginning of the show again.
Well no, they would still continue opening the boxes in the same amount of time it takes and hear what sums of money the banker would have offered. They just play the game with their hopes now going in reverse mode. This would happen whatever time in the game the contestant decided to deal. The game would still be played out regardless.
Having watch the show now for four weeks it's highly unlikely anyone would accept the first offer as even if you lose the big numbers later on, your still likely to get a better offer at some stage.
And talking of losing big numbers, how unlucky was Sam today!
The way the show is structured though means that half of the deals are in the final part, with only one deal in part 1, and two more in part 2. I think at worst someone might take the second deal in part two, but so far I think all contestants haven't dealt until the final part.
