They were actually due to start recording on 27 June. Richard Whiteley died on the 26th, so obviously no-one (least of all Carol) was in any state to do any recording that week and nothing happened. Some of the guest hosts who were in Leeds for recording that week ended up doing pieces for the "Mr Countdown" tribute documentary instead.

Can anyone tell me what happened to the episodes of Countdown filmed using guest presenters before Richard died?

Deal or No Deal is fantastic. All my friends who are off at 4:15pm watch it and find it absolutely gripping (me included).

I'd agree to an extent with that statement; it's a good format, and would suit a 30 minute slot so long as there was another twist to the game.
However, simply having boxes opening for 45 minutes really has no variety at all and severely drags on.

Was it out of date info - or is Des going to take time off every now and then?

The Freeview EPG says that Lesley Garrett is presenting today's Countdown. Some very out-of-date info, i suspect.

Well it said Lesley Garrett and Carol Vorderman were presenting and Lionel Blair was in Dictionary Corner.
In reality it was Des and Carol and Keith Barron was in Dictionary Corner.
Looks like an overhang from the planned airings of the guest presenter episodes, which of course were never made. Though why they're still on the EPG nearly five months later is anybody's guess.

It would appear that the banker is real and that Noel isn't just hearing voices in his head, as on yesterdays' show Noel gave the phone to the contestant who spoke with the banker.

Yes, that's happened a few times. Today's £120,000 deal is the biggest prize ever won on daytime TV (but NOT the biggest prize ever won on Channel 4, no matter what some folk might have you believe!)

It just gets better and better - today's show was easily the best so far though.
It's proving I'm not as much of a risk taker as I'd thought - I'd have certainly taken the £33,000, never mind the £52,000. Well done to her though! We've still only see one player go on to open the box though!
Ratings are very good too - it's winning the slot and up amongst C4's top rating programmes with 2.5m viewers each day, up from 1.8m who watched the first show. Countdown is pulling in 1.7m a day, compared to the 1.2m average of the Richard Whitely shows earlier in the year.
