Has anyone got the Dead Ringers series 1 video/DVD? Are the idents intact? That could be a real selling point for ident fanatics...

I notice that since network BBC ONE are highly unlikely ever to use Ballet again, they've let Dead Ringers do what they like with it. Last week they had Anthony Blair prancing about to the music, and this week, when they had the sketch with Ozzy Osbourne sniffing out swearwords in the editing suite, you could (fairly) clearly see the Ballet ident on one of the monitors! (Presumably they filmed that sketch around the same time that they edited the Blair one?).

I dont know why they cant use ballet appropriately. It should be used for

:- News tragedies (recent example 6 soldiers killed in iraq)
:- An intro into a special caption (laura saddlers death caption before holby)
:-Royal Deaths/Parlimentary Deaths
:- Sad events (any televised funeral)

Acrobats should be used for serious events (News 24 specials or news flashes)

Capoiera shold be used into all main bulletins unless ballet or acrobats is being used and into all news related progorammes, you the judge, crimewatch, real story etc, and it could be used into short buletins unless the top story is about a death in which case that new one should be used.

Other idents should be given monthly spells, with two or three idents appearing regularly, and the others appearing occasionaly, then the others come in next month etc. They need to put in some kind of structure to the idents and not just use the one they get to first.

Next we will have tango into the news and ballet intoa very serious progoramme like my family. (in cas eyou didnt notive that last bit was sarcastic)

I personally think that they should have a people-less one for such events, but not a still or anything.

A red flag flowing, or a river scene or something like that.

Yup, the spoof BBC One and BBC Two continuity is on the DVD, all of Series 1 and the Pilot episode too. Though if you watch Episode 6 of Series 1 they have managed to get a box less version of last year's BBC One Christmas ident. There's also a glimpse of the balloon in the pilot episode, for those who miss the balloon.

I noticed today on Dead Ringers Al Jazeera got a spinning globe ident (although I'm sure that it was going the wrong way around!) and there was a boxless-Tango. I wonder why they are only boxless every so often? The last time it happened was the Christmas ident, and there was another clip of it with the box on it earlier on in the same show...

Yeah, so they'll sell all of, oooh, about six copies to ident geeks, compared to the thousands they'll sell to people buying them 'cos it's Dead Ringers...

It's a surefire winner! Wink

I think tonight's Saddam Hussein monologue might have challenged the boundaries of taste.....

I thought they were pushing the boundaires a bit tonight, but as ever the quality of the show was very high. The best bits being IMO

Doctor Who/Speed Dating
The Ozzy Bin Ladens (With the Al Jaazera globe before it)
The art gallery, with the posh guy (They guy who campaigned for 'Help Northerners, can't remember his name)
Tonight with Trevor McDonald, Martin Bashir and Tony Blair.

Still good as usual.

Well I thought the Linda Barker sketch worked really really well

Along with "Alistair Campbell tells me I'm a big Eastenders fan, In fact i'd rather be in Salford now in the Queen Vic coffee shop with Ken Barlow and Mrs Mangle"

Oh and the Cherrie Blair bits, you just knew that singing debacle would feature in tonight's show!
