The Children's Channel - Was split into two separate channels, The Children's Channel and TCC in its later days, the latter a channel more for teenagers. This later became a channel in its own right, and now exists as Trouble. The Children's Channel eventually gave up, basically.

The Family Channel - began to become dominated by gameshows, being the cheapest form of bland family entertainment you can buy in. Was rebranded to become Challenge TV, the all quiz-show channel.

Lifestyle - If I remember rightly (I could well be wrong here) it was owned by WH Smith, along with Screensport. I think they either sold or merged Screensport with Eurosport, but I think they just gave up on Lifestyle.

UK Play - In later days renamed to become Play UK, either to make it sound more young or (very possibly) to stop it damaging the UK Gold portfolio of channels. The collapse of ITV Digital badly affected it. It was one of only three music channels on that platform, but when exposed to satellite and cable only, this half-comedy half-music channel couldn't compete. Some of the UK Play programmes turn up to UK Gold and UKG2.

The Comedy Channel - never heard of it.

If anyone can correct me on the details of any of this, please do - I suspect I might not be 100% in every case.

I remember a little bit about it. The station only lasted a year and I think it came from the Sky table of channels and you probably had to get a movie or a sports channel to receive. Was on air around 1990-1992 for no more than a year and was filled with American comedy imports. It started the days transmissions at 4pm and being around 12 at the time, the only programmes I seem to remember where Punky Brewster, MASH and Different Strokes

I actually thought .tv was quite a good channel. I used to watch a program on there called Chips and Everything with Kate Russell who now i think does Dabs.tv, or she did for a while anyway. It was basically a daily semi-live show where viewers would call, email in or whatever about their computer problems. They had a couple of so-called computer experts in to help fix the problems. It was around the times of Windows ME coming out, because 9 times out of 10, their advice was to downgrade, or "upgrade" as they said (haha) to Windows 98. Oh what fun....

Shop! went into Administration (on Monday 8 April, 2002,) ,because of ITV Digital.I still got the close down on a video somewhere (but someone in the house could recoarded over it) and most of people on Shop! went onto Ideal World.

Here's the message after close down.. Before the message it had a video of the whole place being empty

I remember tinyLiving used to be on TCC. I was only young at the time so I don't remember much about it.

Granada and Littlewoods have decided to close their joint-venture shopping channel - Shop! - after over three years on the air.

The closure, at the end of April, will result in the loss of 390 jobs, representing 140 from Granada and 250 at Littlewoods, and including 169 at the station's Preston call centre.

"Recent changes in Littlewoods' senior management have led to a renewed focus on the core business and new channels such as e-commerce, which can provide sustainable income and profit growth," explained Susan Murray, sales and marketing director at Littlewoods. "Our review has concluded Shop! will not meet its shareholders' expectations."

Shop!'s demise follows Granda's axing of joint-venture health channel with Wellbeing at the end of last year, and the closure of its longrunning lifestyle channel Granada Breeze.
