I usually work full time, but I'm off work sick at the moment and am likely to be for the next two weeks at least. Sad Being stuck at home, I've caught a fair bit of daytime telly. Is it me, or has it always been this bad?! On ITV, there's "This Morning", which appears to have sunk to new depths. As was discussed in another thread, BBC1 seems to be dominated by that bloody Lorne "insincere" Spicer woman and actually appears to be wall to wall car booting and househunting until about 12.30. This afternoon, I was unfortunate enough to catch something called "Cash Cab" on ITV which was just dreadful.

Am I just being grumpy and miserable through being ill, or has daytime telly hit an all time low?

Well I'm not sure about the rest of Daytime TV, but I think City Hospital may have reached the end of it's life when you look at the current presenter list: Ainsley Harriott, Nadia Sawalha and Andi Peters. Shocked

Doctors and Diagnosis Murder aren't too bad.

I think if you take any particular date in time since the launch of daytime telly, you'll find it's awful. I suppose however, there are varying degrees of sh-it, and the current Lorne Spicerthon does seem to plumb new depths.

I think shows like Jerry Springer which are part of Daytime Television are Ok, and what was that other show which replaced Carol Smiley's People's Court UK? But there are too many househunting shows.

I agree, Diagnosis Murder is good, but itv's offerings and the bbcs obsession with bargin hunt & Cash in the Attic type programmes are starting to wind me up, thankfully im back at college tomoz.

I don't think daytime TV has ever been any good. Wink

It has always been pretty dire but I feel there is a more distinct difference between ITV1 and BBC One.

Currently the BBC schedule is full of boot sales, antiques and auctions (it used to be diy and cookery-which was preferable to this current glut of programmes) whereas the ITV schedule is a bit more varied and has the welcomed return of This Morning today. It was great the way they mixed serious and fluffy items and the Mark Austin interview was good.

The premise of Cash Cab is awful but for some reason it has become cult viewing in my house and enjoy it. That's what is lacking from the daytime schedule is a credible quizshow. ITV tried with Perserverance but I think it needed a different presenter as Mr Castle didnt really add much to it (quite a good format though)

But with all the numerous channels out there now - there must surely be something worth watching on at least one of them during the daytime?

Bring back a nice classic gameshow. There's been nothing any good since the late Bob Monkhouse's Wipeout. Rolling Eyes
