If there was an award for understatement of the year, you'd get it.

how has the viewing figures fared.. there hasn't been that much in the press! no news good news? love Laura tobin!

600-700,000. Not great and is so far the least watched version of Daybreak. Disappointing start but if they ride it out for a few weeks/months instead of giving in to viewers (and they can't really go back to the GMTV format any more than they have) then it should pick up a bit. It always does when viewers return from Sky News (originally going because the new version of Daybreak has become too newsy) or from BBC Breakfast.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and they should have reverted to this format in January when they slapped yellow paint over everything instead of having the Daybreak/GMTV/One Show hybrid we've had for the past 8 months.

The continued underperformance of Daybreak is likely to have played some part in this. The ITV1 breakfast show averaged 654,800 (16.82% share) between 10 April and 27 August, an 8% decline on last year’s figures of 712,300 (17.41%) over the same period.

This is from an article on Broadcast about BBC Breakfast's ratings. It says that Breakfast's ratings are down by around 100k year-on-year, but the audience share has increased from 36% to 36.2%.

I have never seen Laura Tobin before because as far as I am concerned she has never worked on national TV, or obviously the Wales region (where I am). Bit what a find she is - professional, entertaining and a bloody good weather presenter!

Do you not consider the Six O'Clock News on BBC One as 'national tv'?

To be honest, you never saw Laura much unless it was weekday mid morning, weekends, or the bit of the World shift that joined with BBC Four! Sad

(Then again, apart from Carol at Breakfast, it was mainly blokes I saw.

The last few days, I ve seen Helen, Nina & Sarah, so I hope its a change of policy?)

She presented the BBC News channel forecasts quite regularly.

Well I did refer to that, obviously without mentioning the NC.

Its the only reason I watch Daybreak!

Some naughty person on the DB Facebook said she was thick, because she mistook a cruise liner for a ferry!

When I checked overnights for Daybreak and Lorraine last week, Daybreak was around 600,000 and Lorraine around 900,000.

Expect Daybreak to get it's highest viewing figures ever on thursday as every 12 year old girl in the UK will be glued to Daybreak and Lorraine as Justin Bieber is a guest.
