Similar to Good Morning America in the US, Daybreak should centre around a desk. On GMA, it is far from a serious, hardhitting station that deals with news, news, news, it is an excellent prop for having presenter banter, conducting interviews whilst looking more professional - plus it would give a different edge to Breakfast which now with orange hues and red sofa lends itself to a GMTV look. You could still feature a sofa area for some items, but I think a desk would be a good idea - like a giant coffee table. Sat in the Daybreak windows, it would look pretty good, especially if lit well, it would reduce the need for garish blinds in the background as the foreground would be much more interesting.
Are there any reports which confirm a studio change yet?
I woud also like to add my voice to the chorus at the top of this page on an idea about the news provisions on the New Daybreak. Having a 'face' of news in Kate Garraway would be great.
Why has the old daybreak thread been locked? Where should we discuss Daybreak Untill Kelly and Jones take over? I've never been on TVF when a relaunch has taken place that I'm remotely interested it, so I'm not sure what happens!
It's been locked because a fairly major breaking news event was hidden away on page 300 and something of a thread set up to discuss the launch of Daybreak back in September 2010. There are plenty of people here I'm sure interested in discussing the announcement made this week who aren't interested in the day to day chatter related to Daybreak, so hence don't see such things in the generic threads (something as a whole us TV forumers need to get out of the habit of posting such news in!).
As for where to discuss the general inane day to day stuff - no harm I guess in setting up a new general thread if you really want to.

Ahh right I see! Thanks, I see Daniel K has created one.
Some people have previously commented that they think Daybreak should follow a format similar to that of the USA breakfast shows. What is it about these shows that's so special?

Dunno, Reubz. But ITV Daybreak must be *so* good, it now has two dedicated threads on here. Although, you will need a GPS to navigate your way around them.
Would you rather your head was stotted with a hammer or a brick?

This may seem like a silly question but; is it confirmed that there is going to be a separate Newshour or is that just TVF speculation? I agree with some opinions that it might be a good idea to have a news presenter to do the first hour and present news updates and act as third presenter and do serious interviews with politician etc.

I think it is just speculation at this stage. I wonder whether they are looking to poach a serious news anchor to do the role you have described. That might explain the lack of information at this stage.

Aled Jones & Lorraine Kelly! I thought they were trying to encourage more viewership? Still I've long since given up on ITV Breakfast so I shouldn't complain as I wont be watching anyway.
