EXCLUSIVE: Picture of new Daybreak set from 3rd September 2012.

Haha love the irony Laughing

On a more serious note, in term's of the set I wonder if they will have if they will have one single multi-purpose presentation area for all three main segments of the show. Or have a separate presentation area for Lorraine's slot (like they did in the GMTV days). Remember Studio 3 is a very sizeable one, however I get the impression for the undoubtedly GMTV inspired new on-screen graphics perhaps they are going for one main presentation area.

On the point that Brekkie makes, I am not too sure that Kate Thonton or Gethin Jones would have worked as better replacements because they are relative unknown's on the breakfast tv circuit. I think executives went for Lorraine because she was seen as someone else has said on the forum 'a safe pair of hands'. If Lorraine and Aled partnership didn't work at least they have the likes of Matt Barbet, John Stapleton and Kate Garraway within the team as backup.

However, it could be a partnership that work's well. I know everybody has an opinion and a lot of people cannot stand Lorraine Kelly which is fair enough. But, she has been through a failed breakfast show launch with GMTV in 1993. She was indeed one of the saviour's of the show when they revamped it and ratings began to rise in the autumn of that year.

Although, I am not suprised whatsoever by the reaction on social media sites. No matter who replaced interim presenters Kate and Dan, the same response would have happened. Despite the uproar on the likes of DB's facebook page, the reality is that Kate and Dan failed to set the ratings alight. In fact, year-on-year Daybreak this summer has been down on average 10-15%, while BBC Breakfast has increased its market share slighly. Even though, Daybreak's core audience of housewives had a marginal improvement in term's of audience share. The last few month's viewing figures have been quite frankly woeful.

Obviously, the new changes that will happen will alienate some of the core audience because they are simply against change altogther. Crucially, it's how bosses handle the transition and how the new look Daybreak settle's in that will be key. I personally think they should have let Dan go earlier in the summer to avoid the backlash on the social networks.

I am also dissapointed that Helen Fospero does not appear to be part of the new team. I think it is another MAJOR mistake not to include her in some capacity within the re-launch.

If the revamp show does actually work well then any improvement's in the ratings (if any) will take place over the longer term.

Im sure Helen will appear at some point to cover, just like she did in the last year or so of GMTV. Sometimes she covered the news hour or news desk and sometimes both, and even a few main presenting times. I reckon her role of being cover is still there, but lower down the list this time, perhaps Kate and Ranvir first, then Helen.

I think by now the answer is Helen doesn't want to commit long term or doesn't need to, rather than overlooked.

So do we think Daybreak will get a third chance after this fails or will ITV admit defeat and do something else. If this goes tits up (and thinks involving Richard Arnold generally do) ITV now risk losing the only thing that actually works for them in the morning too - Lorraine.

Its a tad melodramatic to say they'll lose Lorraine because they won't. If Daybreak doesn't work she'll just be dropped and moved back to her own show. The press won't be able to tarnish her name because they can't exactly say Lorraine doesn't work on breakfast TV and viewers hate her, because she has been there over 20 years. Public perception of her won't change.

Just because you don't like the sound of it doesn't mean others don't or it won't target their chosen audience well, so it doesn't 'deserve' to fail before it has even aired. After trying something different which didn't work, it is reverting to a formula that has worked for the last 30 years, so if they do it right its hard to see where it can go wrong.

Every bit of info I see about this just reaffirms my belief it deserves to fail - it's a horrible hybrid of the cosy jumpers of TVam and the patronising cheese of GMTV, the two things Daybreak was supposed to get away from.

Just checking: you've not seen a frame of the programme transmitted yet, right?

Just checking another thing: if you really want it to fail, it'll be rubbish to you whatever happens, right?

But hilarious for all of the wrong reasons and GMTV/Daybreak has never quite been the same since. She was much better than watching Emma Crosby.
