Great so the new Daybreak logo looks just like the old GMTV, how original Rolling Eyes

Well they tried original and came up with a purple rectangle and a depature lounge for a studio.

Nothing wrong with Studio 7, nice view of London although never goes well with the British audience, perfectly suited for a news or sports programme, Al Jazeera Sports made good use of it.

I'm expecting a very new direction, by the looks of this -

Aled did say yesterday that there was going to be a performance area. I was expecting a box in the corner Smile

Well it seems they are finally going down the American breakfast route then by having a crowd for performance.

Next we'll have a crowd gathering out the studio building holding up placards, like they do over the pond as well...

So do we think Daybreak will get a third chance after this fails or will ITV admit defeat and do something else. If this goes tits up (and thinks involving Richard Arnold generally do) ITV now risk losing the only thing that actually works for them in the morning too - Lorraine.

I think they'd have been better off giving Ranvir and Matt a 6-8am more news based slot then having Lorraine do her regular show from 8am, or perhaps trying Gethin Jones and Kate Thornton as replacement hosts for Daybreak.

Every bit of info I see about this just reaffirms my belief it deserves to fail - it's a horrible hybrid of the cosy jumpers of TVam and the patronising cheese of GMTV, the two things Daybreak was supposed to get away from.

Do you ever have a good word to say about ANYTHING?

So effectively its GMTV with Daybreak on it, I bet the GMTV music returns and it will be like the Daybreak era never happened.

Its interesting to watch Sky's Sunrise promo, and compare it to Daybreak's.

Sorry. Smile. That is the 2009-2010 GMTV set.

It's just I feel although it'll still be called 'Daybreak', I feel ITV are just going to be bringing back GMTV from Monday. The new logo - with the "sun" or circle in... it's just like the pre-2009 GMTV logo. They're even bringing back the newshour from 6am to 7am... (even if it's not called the newshour).

The times of regional news... 6:07, 7:07, 8:07... I'm sure that's the same times that regional news used to air during GMTV! It was always to the newsdesk and Penny Smith, then afterwards, the "now let's find out what's happening where you are" at those times!

I'd love GMTV to return, but I do hope that this new era of Daybreak from Monday is similar to how GMTV once was.

When I went to secondary school, it was the first thing that happened in the morning... tuning in to GMTV! On the hour... A bit of a laugh from the presenters, then Penny with the news headlines, and the local news and weather. When the titles for Lorraine's section came on... LK Today, I knew it was time to leave the house to be in on time!

If this new era of Daybreak contains more laughs, more local news (instead of just "the Daybreak headlines here in the West"), no London backdrop, something that feels warm and welcoming, and a set which is not too dull, nor too bright... I will be happy Smile

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention... BRING BACK PENNY SMITH!
