Really? I always felt that in the enforced gravitas stakes, she has tons more than Christine Bleakley ever did/has. Not that Daybreak is famed for Breaking News, but on occasion, will nevertheless need to manage it.
So they're still keeping Kate as well then. When will they learn that if there is the briefest risk of turning on your TV and finding Kate Garraway people won't be watching ITV in the mornings.

I totally agree Swatson7 .. I do think Helen would be better fronting the newshour should she be brought in. A good plan (I think) would be:
6am-7am - News Hour with Helen Fospero
7am-8.30 - Lorraine and Aled - Human interest stories, celebrity news and interviews and covering the BIG stories
During this time Helen would give us news updates and like you said Swatson7 she would conduct interviews with politicians or representatives relating to that days stories. Kate Garraway would feature but in her original Daybreak role as Entertainment editor.
8.30-9.30 - Your typical Lorraine show again with Helen doing the news.
When Lorraine has her days off I think then Helen should remain in her News Hour role and have Kate present the main show and then the 8.30-9.30 slot.
This would create consistency, familiar faces and give Daybreak a new direction by having essentially 3 main presenters .. Lorraine and Aled doing the main anchoring duties but Helen doing all the News stuff throughout the day. Have her sitting at a separate part of the studio with her own sofa.
Just an idea.

Is it only me who finds this new arrangement slightly odd? Surely, it would be better for both Aled and Lorraine to host the programme right through to 9:30am, than still having two programmes - but, only time will tell whether this will continue to be the case.
Personally, if they are looking for a news anchor - bring back Andrea Catherwood. She was very good on Bloomberg and did very well on the Paper Review couple of weeks back. A trained journalist, Andrea would makes a very good face of news.
Personally, I think ITV will do this with the new 'Daybreak':
6:00am - Daybreak Newshour/First Edition - Female news anchor and stand in male anchor host an hour of national and international headlines, with comment and analysis.
7:00am - Daybreak with Aled Jones and Lorraine Kelly - Aled and Lorraine provide the nation with its agenda, providing interviews, analysis and discussion on the major news stories affecting the so called 'hassled mum' demographic. Female News Anchor delivers bulletins every 15 minutes, with regional news reduced to every 25/55 minutes.
9:00am - Daybreak's Fourth Hour with Lorraine Kelly - Celebrity interviews, gossip, cooking and real lives stories relegated to this final hour with Lorraine Kelly. News Anchor acts as a sidekick and still delivers bulletins throughout the hour.
10:00am - Whatever ITV decide to show before This Morning

I was just saying sofa as if she was doing interviews - news story related it would look better than her being at a desk. She could have a desk for the news updates and a sofa for her interviews? I think a sofa would be quite nice though, at the other end of the studio, her own sofa area where she does the news from and interviews.
The more I think about it, the more I think the new pairing could work

I suspect Lorraine has insisted on keeping her own show as part of the deal to take over from 7am.

And her show is successful. Why tamper with something that works?

So I think it's safe to say that Lorraine is not doing 5 days a week, But will Aled? I'm assuming that Kate will be the Fridays presenter like during the Adrian and Christine era but if Dan leaves who'll join her on Fridays (if Aled does do a 4 day week) and be main relief? John Stapleton? Is there any other candidates?
And I think it would be nice to get a longer desk and be able to utilise for news and non-fluff interviews with the news presenter.

Why has the old daybreak thread been locked? Where should we discuss Daybreak Untill Kelly and Jones take over? I've never been on TVF when a relaunch has taken place that I'm remotely interested it, so I'm not sure what happens!

And what happens to Jeremy Kyle?
