Lorraine in its current form definitely has another year or two left in it, but I imagine they will want the two shows aligned and Lorraine is carrying the original Daybreak pres but in pink- exactly what they're trying to move away from. It will be sad to see the branding and set go but it makes more sense to merge the two shows if Lorraine will be presenting both of them. Then it will just be a continuation at 8.30 rather than a separate programme.

the facebook, twitter (I know they are blue branded anyway) but under that is a competition link whichh is a new one, the old one was orange

I'm just wondering why it's something that warrants in-depth discussion, that's all. Surely on a forum such as this we should be speculating about the presentation... the graphics, the set, the music... but there seems to be a hell of a lot of talking about whose going to fill in for who on what day. Fair enough if that's what you all want to talk about, but I'd figure the presentation aspect was more of a talking point than that. The discussion in this thread just seems to be disproportionate. I'm not intending to start an argument, it's just an observation...


Why not just let the conversation flow naturally ? If you want to talk about presentation talk about it, if others want to talk about the personnel, let them.

The rota chat isn't out of context here, it's a brand new programme and people are interested in the personnel that are going to be presenting the various segments.

Do you think separate branding could work for them nowadays? Back in the days of LK Today, it was separate, but I can't imagine the shows being that separate anymore - even though Lorraine's current set is completely unlike daybreak's.
With Lorraine carrying both shows. I suppose it makes sense to have other tie ins, such as logo and music.

It might be like KLGandHoda in America, same/tweaked opening, different music, same studio with different graphics on screen etc..

If shes only doing the one show- absolutely. I think it worked better that way before all of GMTV was standardised to the one look/theme in 2009. The LK Today theme that sounded like Sex & the City was pretty good Embarassed, and by extending that, the Newshour music had a lot of authority to it that the regular GMTV theme didn't quite have. But if Lorraine is presenting both Daybreak and Lorraine then it could end up being overkill if it looks as though shes presenting two shows, whereas if the Daybreak/Lorraine looks are tied in with each other it seems better. It would be like Holly presenting This Morning and then doing Loose Women straight after it.

I couldn't find a opening for 'Kathie Lee and Hoda', which shares the same graphics and studio as TODAY, different music and set dressings. The clip is 'Ann, Natalie and Hoda', the predecessor to Kathie Lee and Hoda, who also shared the same graphics and studio, with different music and set dressings.

Newer posts
