I'm not sure it is John - speculation has been that Gethin may be the stand-in. I reiterate that has been speculation.

John will probably stay on as special correspondent, perhaps standing-in for Matt on the Newshour? Don't think Gethin or Aled would be appropriate to present that hour.

I know we're all going to be completely underwhelmed by the onscreen look, but having Lorraine on the main show will be refreshing! I loved her on GMTV's General Election show back in 2010 - her and Stapleton were great together

I know we're all going to be completely underwhelmed by the onscreen look, but having Lorraine on the main show will be refreshing! I loved her on GMTV's General Election show back in 2010 - her and Stapleton were great together

It'll be the late eighties all over again.
I just can't see this working out - it's a pairing which is a bit too wooly jumper and slippers for me and just can't see how commercially this could pay off for ITV, even if ratings go up. As discussed previously sadly Daybreak were too quick to try and appease the few remaining GMTV fans rather than establish their own identity and give things time, and if the changes so far were a flashback to GMTV, the latest changes are more of a flashback to TVam.
Personally I'd have extended Lorraines own show so it begins at 8am and gone for a more news focused approach from 6-8am.

Or why not, from 7:00 - 9:30 have a new show called, "Wake Up With Lorraine" And have an ITV News hour from 6:00 - 7:00

Licence* is the word you're after, rights are like footie - but now ITV own ITV Breakfast completely and purchased Disney's stake they can - just probably not on UTV or STV... Nothing stopping it!
ITV Breakfast dont have the rights to broadcast until 9.30, and ITV News wont go for a 6.00 news hour
