If i'm at home and its on, This Morning and Loose Women are just the perfect level of banality to stick on in the background. On the whole both programmes are okay although i do realise that there can be the occasional annoying segment; Dont get me started on that no brained Brick head. However all of that is preferable to the whole antiques situation... so it is.

The issue with This Morning is it now more often falls into the "Light Entertainment" category, where Daybroke cannot do that because it has a news remit. TVMockerIdentityXIV... er Daybroken suffers from the lack of a credible News Anchor so regardless of how much they want to be like BBC Breakfast it is doomed to failure. Perhaps this Newshour will give Kelly/Jones a credible lead in to allow them to do more of the celebrity lead nonsense without being inhibited by the need to go back to news every fifteen minutes.

Currently IMO, the only channel that presents what i would call Hard News; ie, the presentation is no different to the rest of the schedule, is SkySunrise. This is something that is missing from the other morning television doohickeys... i dont need the celebrity guff in the mornings, i need "all the news in fifteen minutes every fifteen minutes"... where have i heard that before.

Regardless of whether Daybreak is successful or not with its new format, i wont be watching as both it and BBC Breakfast fail to give me what i want... NEWS. The BBC even succeed in giving me what i dont want... Grumpy State. (Hopefully that one is far enough away from the real name to not annoy the lawyers.)

Hmm... Richard and Judy has a ring to it... perhaps they should change the name of This Morning to "Schofe and Booby" or on fridays "Holmes and Wifey" and definitely change the other programme to "Moose Women".

So is it Easter again soon or is that later today?

I hate dissing a programme before its launch, but past experience says that it will be a load of old Snowmen Growlers.

This Morning has lost its way of late. Too much reliance on TOWIE "celebs" - I refuse to believe that Eamonn in particular is as interested in what they have to say as he makes out. The whole programme is losing its populist appeal by trying to chase a trendier audience.

No, No, No you're right, I'm only interested in the cooking bits so I am... you know after being on air for nearly two uours I get fierce hungry so I do. I try to have a snack when Alastair Stewart is on, you know whilst Ruth's not watching... is the cooking bit on next or is that later today? You know she didnt let me do the cooking bit yesterday. I know. Its a disgraceful situation so it is.

Is it not possible for ITV News to provide news bullitens instead of a newsdesk, much like it does for This Morning?

TM has become the tv version of a salacious women's weekly magazine with a dash of the Daily Mail's 'femail' section. Real life true story features, celebrity guff, a medical slot which can border on sensationalist and a token news review slot. Also Samantha Brick seems to be on at least every 4/6 to peddle her latest column from the Mail which is normally bating for the target audience ITV is chasing for.

It doesn't matter if they don't beat the Beeb if they have enough of the 'Take a Break' audience watching.

I suggested that a few weeks back, but it was counter argued that it could ruin Daybreaks, already broken, reputation. But it is possibly obviously ITN/ ITV News don't provide news bulletins FOR This Morning, there is just a news update slotted in by ITV in between hence why it's billed separately. So if Daybreak did go down this route or similar they would need cleaner trammisons to the studio, as going to a 'news break' (Go to ads then news then more ads before back to This Morning) and tht set up might not even count towards a quota as it would be a separate programme.

On the other hand, I assume Daybreaks news quota can be filled anytime during 6am-9:25am? Maybe having an entertainment based show, like this Morning, and just do news updates in a This Morning style.

I know that we were all aware in the forum anyway, and that it wasn't difficult to guess, but Lorraine has confirmed on Twitter that she begins hosting Daybreak with Aled on 3rd September. That's the first official confirmation that I am aware of.

Am I the only one who thinks that the logo could just need a little gradient?

To be honest, I've thought this as well, yellow on its own just doesn't work on screen. (ITV1 2006 Rebrand era)

What about this, used a little bit of a GMTV style background?

I actually like the texture on that one... unfortunately Daybreak mocks have been done to death on this forum to the point where we have seen every possible derivation of the colours of the current logo so I'm kind of blasé about it now.

The issue with the programme is not the graphics package, it's the content... the graphics package would be perfectly fine if what it was there to support had any real worth.

Daybreak was a pile of Grumpy-Brummy-Footballers-Wives when it was launched, it turned in to a big heap of Strictly-Come-Tennis-Failures... and it looks like its going to continue in the same way to become a whole load of Snowmen-Growlers.

I really hope it doesn't go further down the This Morning route because that is the opposite of what they should do. In fact they should just get Alastair Stewart to present a couple of hours of non-stop ITV News, followed by Lorraine's programme at whatever time it used to be on (8 ?).
