That's what we've been discussing in the Current Daybreak thread. It was meant to Alex Beresford but that's been firmly knocked on the head.
He's doing the weather throughout August so it seems like a pointless exercise. He could've just stayed on ITV Weather until September until (presumably) the new Daybreak forecaster takes over. Its a shame that not one person hired specifically for Daybreak hasn't made it to the end of this incarnation. A wild stab in the dark and may be reading too much into Lucy pushing herself as the new face of ITV Weather, but could Becky Mantin be making the shift to Daybreak? Saying that I'm half expecting Clare Nasir to pop up (incidentally, she was on Channel 5 Weather the other day, straight after an Emma Crosby-fronted bulletin ).

Isn't Becky Mantin currently on maternity leave? Quite possibly she could be in line to join Daybreak as Lucy takes over full-time ITV weather duties.
I am confused as to why they have got rid of most of the original Daybreak staff. Lucy was fine at weather presenting and Steve was great at the entertainment/showbiz content. They can't blame the presenting staff for the unsuccessful launch of the show. They got rid of most of the GMTV presenting staff for the launch of Daybreak and look where that got them!
Don't forget Gavin is still with Daybreak as will be Kate Garraway. Lucy's replacement will start on 3rd September and all will be revealed in due course.
Very confused, at National Weather. Becky is on maternity leave, and Maryn has left for good and now Alex has left for a month, which leaves Lucy and Sian, correct? And Alex wont go to Daybreak permanently?
I would just get the London Today presenter in and do the weather from the Sports Desk, then switch the graphics package for the regional weather, don't see why Alex has to travel into London and back out again.

Surely it would make more sense to get the London presenter to record the ITV National forecasts.
As in have no national team? I think having a national team is fine, either getting the London presenter to do Daybreak and London weather from the Daybreak studio, or the regions having turns in doing Daybreak and Local weather from Daybreak, might be a bit of a faff.

Well at the moment, the Presneter of the night before pre-records the forecasts for the daybreak bulletins don't they? So there's no London or national presnter on at Daybreak hours. I mean I've known London to do out of vision forecasts during Daybreak/ GMTV with the news presnter voicing it. I don't think getting the Same team to do London and national is good idea, give London some individualality they seem to just get ITV News' cast offs for presnters etc. But it does seem all over but then again national ITV News weather has always been a bit sporadic Presneter wise. I never know who'll get.
NBC's Al Roker, him or get the presenters to read it out and have the graphics at their side/behind them or out of vision, depending on the set design. Macmillan for Daybreak cope with it.
