I just really struggle seeing him coping in particular with the softer elements of the show. Whichever way they go with Daybreak, I don't think it's best suited to Aled's seemingly high-brow appeal. His typical viewership for Songs of Praise is drastically different to that of Daybreak.

I don't post much but I will stand up for any choir boy.
I think he presented on S4C for a while on an evening magazine programme, where he didn't seem too high brow.

I know the jury is out, but an evening magazine programme on S4C is rather different to a network show that is open to a wider audience, and therefore more criticism and scrutiny. I haven't seen the programme to which you refer, but the audiences for the two are radically different.

And you're right, at a post count of just 2!

To be honest, the viewers who post on Facebook are fickle as they come. They hardly ever post positive comments, and obviously they're doing the same this time.

Lorraine it a winner for them, hopefully. I think a lot of the Facebook viewers will have been rooting for Kate and Dan though, but the show seems so, so stale with them at the helm. I can understand ITV's choice with Aled, he seems very much like Eamonn in a sense - bubbly, suited to the morning show style, suitable for lifestyle pieces etc. The news side of things is a very different story though, I can't see him at the helm with that, but I guess Lorraine would be more prominent there.

Overall, its not as bad as when they announced Adrian would host. I can see Lorraine and Aled making a good partnership.

This could well be the best partnership in breakfast TV - who knows, I guess we'll have to wait until "later in the year" to find out.

Do we know what will happen to Kate and Dan, back to their editor roles?

Lorraine won't work 5 days per week so Kate & Dan will most likely return to being end of week and cover hosts. I imagine Kate & Helen will split Newshour duties throughout the week.

The more you think about it, the more ridiculous it seems. Neither of them are really very newsy at all. But hey, this is Daybreak.

With the hiring of Aled, I very much doubt they're planning to make a newsy Breakfast show between 7-8.30. I suspect it will follow Lorraine's current 'cosy' showbiz and human interest format with more news updates.

What about Helen and John 6-7 for newshour, Helen staying on for news updates (Pennys old GMTV job) Lorraine and Aled from 7. Kate and Dan cover and holidays as prv mentioned.

Where and what for Dan now, do we think? SSN? There's no getting away from his popularity.

I wonder whether they will look to bring in a new news presenter to give that element more credibility. The new partnership may work, but they want to avoid recreating GMTV.

Well if Dan does leave I think he will certainly be a well-known face now! Nearly 3 years he's been with GMTV/ Daybreak. This will not have done his career any harm, I guess a new sports man will needed unless there going o let Helen or Kate do news and Sport?
