However, as Jamesrl says there is still many unanswered questions surrounding the presenting team come September onwards. Apart from the announcements made, Kate Garraway's role is still unclear. In addition, we do not know what's going to happen with the news presenter role or even who will be the main relief presenters for Lorraine and Aled.

Also, even though Alex Beresford decided not to join Daybreak, Lucy Verasamy is still due to move onto ITV National weather. There was a rumour that Fred Talbot was going to present Daybreak forecasts from Salford (ironic considering the BBC relocated there in April). It was also refreshing to see Helen again fronting Daybreak. I know I've gone on a billion times but, surely they have to give her a role (although everyboby is entitled to their own opinions.)

Kate will probably return to Friday's to keep a degree of continuity, Helen will probably do the newshour when Ranvir doesn't (especially considering Ranvir is a new mum, so might be on Monday-Friday) with Ranvir/Helen splitting the newsreader role for 7am onwards. They shouldn't need one before then. Would be amazed to see Helen go, especially as they now prefer to use Nadia on Lorraine.

Re. weather- if Fred was to do it from Salford it would make it even more ironic considering that BBC Breakfast weather still comes from London!

It bemuses me why the use Nadia as what seems like the permanent Friday 'Lorraine' presenter nowadays. She's ok, but just that, only ok. There are so many better presenters that they could be using. Maybe Kate will do Daybreak on Friday's and continue through to the Lorraine show also?

Ross Hutchinson, Anglia Weather is moving to a region in the north to become a full time weather presenter. I'm
not sure exactly on the presenting situation but if Ross moved to Granada Fred could be then freed up from his Granada Report duties to present the weather.

That's news to me, but I assume he's going to Gateshead and Tyne Tees and Border as since Phillipa Tomson left for sky we've been short of a weather presenter, there are currently no main weather presenters at Gateshead. The calendar team in Leeds have been doing the forecasts and Kerrie Gosney from Calendar already does weekennds on both Calnedar and Tyne Tess so if Fred moves to national, Jo Blythe could move to weekdays, and Kerrie do all the northern regions similar to what happened a few years ago.

I point I raised in the other thread; If Daybreak goes down a Showbiz route, they could get the 5:30am newscaster to do ITV News branded bulletins from ITN, then that could give them a more leeway to let the main show go more showbiz with the news bulletins using a more serious newsworthy brand (Certainly more newsworthy than daybreak!)

This is a bit late, considering they've already appointed Ravir and Matt but it seems rather pointless in my book to have three newscasters there when one or two would surfice. Also the idea of an ITV News branded first hour is a possibly then that could separate the shows.

I could potentially see the programme's ratings declining to 400-500,000 during the course of the olympics which could attract some negative publicity something producers will not want in the run up to the re-launch.

I disagree; I think the ratings slump this summer will be a good thing from September. If Daybreak 2.0 is able to hype itself up, come the first show lots of people will all of a sudden be tuning in to see what the fuss is all about - similarly to the first show in 2010. So then the headlines will read 'Lorraine and Aled give Daybreak it's highest ratings in 2 years; up 600,000 on the previous week'.

If you catch my drift!

By appointing Matt & Ranvir they're following the GMTV model to give Daybreak some gravitas but also the freedom to be showbiz orientated after 7am. It's a model that has worked for years but one that Daybreak has done very badly, because they tried to retain the same model but copy BBC Breakfast at the same time. If Daybreak appeared to completely give up on news then it would come across even more lightweight than it currently seems.

Anyone heard anything on the grapevine about how the new studio will look? I know that they are returning to more of a GMTV feel but I do hope they haven't got a false window scene behind a red sofa and they come up with something more original. A video backdrop would be much better, possibly with a live scene/image. The false window would just be a step back in time too far and very old fashioned.

Is the Daybreak name staying?

I have no idea. But I would not be surprised at all too see a fake window. An I somewhat doubt a live video video will be brought in, I wouldn't be surprised to see an ITV News inspired virtual studio. Not sure what backdrop they will go for, maybe a Lorraine, loose women style? A loose woman style desk I think isn't a bad move, could be serious yet light hearted, I would like to see different presentation area for before 7 & after 7- ie News coming from desk, the main show from a sofa or such like.

Is the Daybreak name staying?

Not completely sure, but I'm sure I read somewhere (possibly on here) that they were planning on keeping the Daybreak name, i think it's not a completely ruined brand- for the Entertainemnt style show that is. I would like A different programme name for the news part of the show.

Care to eleborate?

There is nothing to elaborate on, I'd just be very surprised if that happened.

Lucy has finished presenting the weather today, she joins ITV News from next week. Wonder who the new Daybreak weather presenter is?
