Anyone else think they would be better moving it into the TRL/ TMI / 1 Leicester Square studios? Enough room, plus out-door performances if they wanted to go down that route too.

Does that still exist? I thought they'd sold it on.

Think they converted it into a restaurant (Well, there was something about it in the window last time I went past a few weeks ago).

We've had this discussion before about this studio. Personally, I think it could be used quite well. It wasn't a bad studio and had some pretty good potential.

The views out of the current window are stunning in good weather at the right time
Of day. Instead of firing up fake walls & terrible blinds, they should have presented from the stage area until light enough, or just stayed their in the winter with performances at the top end by the window.
Though we can't change things now, they're off to studio 3 for the return of GMTV (in all but name), let's just hope it's not also a return of a fake backdrop.

Is studio 3 to be refurbished for HD purposes? It would be a shame to take a step backwards.

With the fairly bad weather we've had until this week, the bits I have seen the view has looked really good and clear, just like the original press shot. But the windows are facing the wrong way for it to be like that in the morning every day and it ends up looking worse than a fake backdrop. It was a nice idea and great that they tried it but its time for them to move on. If they do go down the backdrop route, I hope they try a live view on a huge screen/green screen instead of the GMTV style backdrops.

Studio 3 is being refurbished- Lorraine and Lets Do Lunch are both coming from studio 2. Incidentally, is Lorraine now in HD? The picture looks much clearer (or Nadia has aged a lot in two weeks!) but they aren't using the ITV1HD DOG. I can't comment on Lets Do Lunch.

I'm almost sure Let's do Lunch is in HD.

Let's do lunch does say that it's in HD, but doesn't look it in my opinion. Saying that, watching this morning being upscaled via itv1hd has looked pretty ropey recently, daybreak has a very sharp hd image, I hope this continues.

And to clarify, The fake backdrop I mentioned was that style of printed backdrop that GMTV used to use.

With news and breakfast shows being described as too London-centric, and if ITV didn't go with a London backdrop, what would you like to be being the presenters? Although if they do go for a London backdrop, installing various HD cameras on the roof of Studio 7 may be nice.

They could just go for a Lorraine style studio with no landscape, or go for a similar idea to breakfast, and go for a generic city scape, or even a country view as day breaks. With a good view, and good prep, they could still reflect the dark skies in the winter, but in a way that the background has lights within, rather than close to black.

One day last week LDL was in HD, it looked it and the ITV1 HD DOG was on screen but I watched it on Monday and it was only in Upscaled HD, odd really.

Doesn't it come the from same studio as Lorraine*? If so then I don't think its been upgraded yet.

Cameras are switchable SD/HD so maybe they didn't switch them back after Lorraine?
