I'm always the one who says not to speculate in this forum and I've just speculated!

Oh well, since it's just this once...

I noticed that Alex Beresford was presenting the ITV national weather bulletin last night. I know that this was going to be Lucy's new job and she was supposed to finish two weeks ago. I wonder will Alex being "the face of weather" be delayed until the re-launch?

Gethin Jones taking a very prominent role on the show - on-air all of this week as well as last week and will be part of the "Jubilee" reporting team next week. I wonder if Gethin will be stand-in host for Aled Jones? Has this already been confirmed?

Helen could quite possibly be Ravir's stand-in or even permanent news reader. Daybreak website states that Lucy Watson is New York Correspondent, so it's probable she will still be taking up this role and leaving the UK.

Kate's appointment as host was only ever temporary following Adrian and Christine's departure. My guess is that Kate will return to her role as Entertainment Editor and stand-in host.

Yesterday when Richard Arnold was doing his segment, "Richard Arnold - Entertainment Editor" came up on screen. It looks like Kate will defintely not be going back to that role following the re-launch.

When did the second level part of the stage get removed? https://twitpic.com/show/iphone/8di6on

It's just a piece of rostra. It's probably moved every day.

Aled Jones and Helen Fospero have been tweeting each other today. Aled said to Helen that he heard they would be "playing soon", and Helen replied, "we will".

Screen tests or practices do you think? Will Helen be Lorraine's cover as opposed to Kate?

She could be the newsreader- they might not want Ranvir on the main show just yet. It could also be that she'll be the 'Lorraine' cover presenter, remember they're coming from the same studio from September. Could just be a reference to something social? A lot of explanations, but as long as Kate is there I highly doubt anyone will be 'above' her other than Lorraine.

Your picture doesn't link.

Sorry, do you even know what a piece of rostra is? Just because it has lights built into the edge and a matching top to the floor, doesn't meant it isn't moved whenever someone wants it moved.

I have no idea. The upper level may have different heights of leg available. It's not fixed to the floor and you can see that the lighting modules are separate units. The point I'm making is that you shouldn't assume any change is permanent, or indeed a big deal. Pieces of set are often moved and modified even where they're left standing permanently, and especially where the studio is used for other productions.

A larger single level performane area might have suited a particular band.

I can only remember the double near the beginning for weather and other presentation. The secondary sofa are stays on the bottom level.

You've got to wonder what is going through The designer's mind when ITV made the changes to the set as it, in their view, not broadcast friendly in the dark mornings.

The smart glass website states that they knew the dark mornings would be a problem which is why their glass was installed. http://www.smartglassinternational.com/spd-smartglass-at-itv-daybreak-studios/

I know the designer will be used to alterations without being consulted. But I feel itv jumped the gun and panicked by covering up their very expensive windows by very cheap blinds and latterly an oversized sofa.

Perhaps if they asked the designer/smartglass maker, a different outcome may have been sought.

I loved the set at the beginning. I liked the darkness early in the morning, gradually getting lighter. I also liked the colour scheme as well, but I suppose I'm not a "hassled mum" - so there's me alienated. Rolling Eyes

The original set, even when dark, was far better than the current one. I much preferred the original programme too but as per usual, a lot of the audience threw a tantrum when they didn't get their usual show and ITV have been slowly reverting to GMTV-mode ever since. I'm sure if they kept the show mostly as it was originally, viewers would begin to prefer it.
