Also, one thing that I do wonder in relation to the new Daybreak set for Studio 3 (I know people hate talking about constant revamps - sorry) is that when they officially re-launch on September 3rd it will surely take more than just a weekend to rebuild and construct the new set. Does that mean since Loose Women will be off air for summer that Lorraine will have to be broadcast from Studio 7 (Daybreak's current studio) or will they stop broadcasting Lorraine with Daybreak running to 9.25am? Or will they pre-record Lorraine episodes for the week before the re-launch with a guest presenter.

Let's do Lunch with Bruno and Mel is back from July 9th until September replacing LW. It looks like LW is getting a far bigger holiday than normal! I think they only took 3 weeks off last year.
Does anyone know which studio Bruno and Mel use at TLS?

One can only hope Lorriane and Aled give it a new lease of life and a better sense of direction, if they fail then having a live show on ITV at breakfast is surely going to die in a matter of time.

Lorraine is a safe pair of hands - no question. Whether she will hold a large enough audience to make the breakfast proposition viable is down to the executives. Depends on what they have in the budget for advertising in that slot.

If they're pushing for high viewing numbers they might be disappointed. If they want consistency with a reasonable, loyal audience with high viewer appreciation, she's the perfect choice.

Yes as unhopeful as it sounds I doubt we'll ever return to the days of ITV being more popular at breakfast than the BBC, unless they do a dramatic change of format, which is obviously never going to happen.

Which is sad for me as I too liked the original Daybreak format, and I dislike Breakfast and Sunrise.

Such is life.

You never know, we might all be going gaga over a Channel Four breakfast show in a year or two's time. Remember - telly is cyclical in the exact ratio it takes for a child to grow up and become a producer and regurgitate all their favourites.

By that reckoning, Big Breakfast will come round again soon.

This I think being more likely to happen, the damage has been done and I can't see anytime soon that ITV will be top of the ratings at breakfast, so more than likely they'll happily settle for Lorraine and Aled to be at second but with a steady base. As ITV haven't p*ssed as much money away this time round I can't imagine their hopes and expectations will as high or as optomistic as they were when they hired Adrian and Christine, barely two years ago now.

It's not that I hate Breakfast - I just find it staid. But I guess that's to be expected from a BBC News programme. It works, and that's fine, but I just don't like it. With Daybreak, the original format worked with me - but it did not work well with Adrian and Christine, and certain aspects of the set needed looking at during the dark months. But apart from that it could have been great.

It's not the end of the world obviously. I'll just wake up to my iPod.

I'd never say never. 6-8 years ago it would have been unthinkable that GMTV would have such a dramatic decline and BBC Breakfast would take off. BBC Breakfast will never have such a decline purely because its on the BBC and is BBC News backed but it doesn't mean it won't ever fall out of favour with the public. It is my choice in the mornings at the minute but its incredibly dull and boring (just like Daybreak, but BBC Breakfast is informative instead of basically nothing), so all it takes is for ITV to produce something a little different and to do it well and viewers will gradually switch over.

Going to be interesting who the support presenters are, Aled will need covering as soon as October, for the entire month, as he's doing a pre-Daybreak arranged vocal tour then.
