Definitely Aled Jones. ITV News quote him saying this:

Quote:
I am so thrilled tobe joining ITV for their breakfast show. I am thoroughly looking forward to sharing the sofa every morning with such a consummate professional as Lorraine Kelly. We've known each other for a very long time and havealways had a lot of fun together. We hope that the viewers enjoy being part of our breakfast family.

Maybe Lorraine suggested him as a co-host having known each other for such a long time?

It's not just about chemistry though. It's clearly ability, and it's unclear as to whether he'll be good enough to handle such a programme. Not the most demanding of gigs, I'll admit, but he doesn't have a wealth of experience in this field.

Interesting choice, I originally thought it was the other Aled Jones from Radio 1 Laughing.

No doubt it's a big risk but pairings that people think will work often don't, and ones that people are unsure of turn out to be the best. I look forward to seeing how this one works out but its clear there will be more of a 'Lorraine' direction than a news based one, which if true is a good starting point. I do think he might be a bit too 'middle class' for Daybreak though. It will work for their audience, but I think I'll be sticking with BBC Breakfast.

Very bizarre choice, never in a million years would I have predicted for him to present Daybreak.
I'm sure that we'll just have to see how it works out, although I think I'll stick to Sunrise..

A press release with the old logo colour?

I just really struggle seeing him coping in particular with the softer elements of the show. Whichever way they go with Daybreak, I don't think it's best suited to Aled's seemingly high-brow appeal. His typical viewership for Songs of Praise is drastically different to that of Daybreak.

Yeah, strange! Fairly rushed out, I thought and not much more detail than the initial announcement.

Maybe The Mirror were running another story tomorrow morning so ITV put it out there before them?

The reaction on Facebook is not good, many people stating that they will be tuning in to the BBC from now on..

Do they not want Sunrise with Eamon?

I don't post much but I will stand up for any choir boy.
I think he presented on S4C for a while on an evening magazine programme, where he didn't seem too high brow.
