Richard was a very popular person on GMTV and wasn't the reason for its downfall. Competitions, mass sponsorship along with a lack of investment in news and quality production was.

They haven't got rid of mass sponsorship and competitions though, nor do they seem to have invested very much in news or quality production....

What happened to the original news desk, that was the same design as the sports and sofa desk? I know they moved Tasmin to the other side of the studio, but the actual desk could have been saved. It could have been used for one on one interviews too! Also can't news come form the sports desk as nothing goes on there except for occasional weather?

I've wondered about that, too.

It seems that they've virtually abandoned the London skyline already. Even though it's light for the whole programme, the screen still virtually cover it, with the large monitor obscuring most of the rest of the view. The wall opposite the presenters which came down last spring is still there and the usual camera shot of the presenters seems to be the wall/clock shot. A shame they are not making the most of the view whilst they are still in there.

According to Twitter, Gethin Jones started work on Daybreak today, and has "joined the team", apparently. Although, some other tweets suggests it's for a one week period only.

Anyone know what the real deal is?

Edit: he starts on Monday, not today, and will have a role of Features Reporter. It looks like a long term role, and not just a week.

I don't see the harm in just keeping Lucy instead of trying to get someone else now. In a list of things wrong with the programme, Lucy is near the bottom. Besides it would be retaining at least one familiar face, they know too well how too much change can drive away viewers (not that anyone would stop watching if Lucy left, but just as noone will start watching if they got someone else in).

I hadn't realised that Arnold was offically confirmed Rolling Eyes
He was the poster child of everything that went wrong with GMTV.

So Gethin is taking over Grainne's role? Who filled it between them?
