It's been a while since I was up at 8am and i was pleased with Daybreak this morning. A vast difference from the first week back in September. I recorded some footage this morning if anyone wants to see the ticker that was mentioned above...

The ticker does look a bit odd. Why it needs to fade in I don't know and shouldn't it stop under the clock rather than before it? Perhaps even if they put a little box that said 'Travel' or 'Snow' underneath it (a bit like News 24's ticker when they had the tower) it would look better.
I haven't watched Daybreak since the launch but from that clip I can see it looks much better. The set looks better and the TOTH is much smoother without that tag after the titles or the sting at the end of the bed. I'm glad they realised having Kate, Dan and the weather girl (sorry, can't remember her name - only know Kirsty) on the sofa at the TOTH was a bit pointless.

They still go to Dan, Kate and Lucy at the 6am/7am TOTH.
Probably being a bit slow here and missed five pages discussing it earlier in the thread, but have they ditched the video wall for the weather then - not that the replacement is much better!
Wouldn't be a bad idea come January to create a new presentation area there to be used for the darker mornings, and then they can switch back to the view in the summer (and use that space in the winter for performances etc.)

It depends if the video screen is being used, for cool before school, entertainment update, performances, etc before or after the weather is due. If this is the case they've been using the screen behind the sports desk which fits into shot well & makes the map clearer imo.

Brill show this morning. Loved the Harry Hill/Knitted Character/Sooty/Sweep/Cool Before School bit. THe show has improved greatly in the past few weeks, but there's still much that can be done.
Are there any figures out regarding this weeks ratings? I suspect that many people would have stayed home this week and watched both Daybreak and Lorraine with school and work being closed
Yesterday daybreak, excluding launch day, got it's highest audience yet averaging 1m viewers peaking at around 1.4m from memory. Lorraines average yesterday was 1.3m.
Makes me wonder if ITV have played a blinder here.
Get stories in the press about how awful the show is, put out some soft presser saying "we are behind the show, it's the long haul not short term spike in the figures", it becomes a word of mouth joke told by people only reading about it in the papers, people watch out of interest thinking its going to be like some televised car crash, and then..
..think, hang on - it's not to bad and start to watch regularly.
Any idea what they are planning to do over Christmas/New Year? It'd be stupid to go kids programmes heavy like GMTV did in previous years. Carrying normal programmes is where you can pick up more viewers off over the seasonal break, and keep them into the new year.
On the other hand, a lot of the country is under several feet of snow, forcing many mothers/parents to stay at home in the morning rather than drag their screaming little brats to school...so they decide to put the telly on?
