I don't understand why they don't have regional bulletins every 30mins the same as BBC Breakfast, perhaps this is a move towards that.
I would've thought that the production team would welcome even more breaks in the live presentation from the London studio. Chiles & Bleakley seem to do better when they only have 3-4 minute segments to fill before throwing to either a report, regional news, commercial break or another live reporter in the studio.
That may be unfair, as I'm sure BBC Breakfast is broken down into small enough segments to allow the presenters to prepare 'off camera' as much as possible. However, it just seems to me that the presense of the main presenters on Daybreak is rather less than on the BBC.
Interesting it's the first hour getting this extra bulletin and I assume for one day?
Are we going for a newshour idea, with more news before softening at 7am, like GMTV did a few years ago.
The presenters have a smaller hour to fill than BBC Breakfast;
BBC Breakfast presenters actually read the news, where as Daybreak has a newsreader.
BBC Breakfast are on the sofa more with the sports presenter (so they chat) than Daybreaks Sports desk takes the viewers away from the main two.
BBC Breakfast when they do showbiz have the main two present, however Daybreak has a dedicated showbiz presenter/reporter.
BBC Breakfast does have 2 regional news opt-outs but Daybreak has one per hour.
On top of all that remember the commercial breaks make all the difference. A break is about 3mins.
And also Daybreak is shorter by 45mins than BBC Breakfast
An extra regional bulletin has been scheduled for 0645 tomorrow.
