It seems there's a new introduction the newsreaders have to use for the regional news:- "Your local travel and weather is less than a minute away, first the Daybreak headlines here in the <insert region name> region" - or slight variations on this.

I think it needs 5 mins local news opts outs every 30 mins. But it's a all right show. Lorraine on the other hand was rubbish. The weather could be improve though Smile

Watching the 30mins on YouTube. It feels like a mixup of all sorts of programmes so far... of course having the new presenters makes it feel like a breakfast One Show, the relaxed nature of the crew harkens back to Big Breakfast, but the overall format still has a GMTV style to it. Which is understandable as they'll want to keep their previous audience.

EDIT: Just got to regional travel... is that always in 4:3 seeing it's not my region? Confused

EDIT 2: It's struck me what the logo reminds me of, probably not the first... Facebook!

In London? Yeah, I'm not sure if it is because TrafficLink can't do 16:9 or if it is just because the TFL cameras are 4:3. Since ITV Regional news went widescreen they've put it in a variety of frames, I think this is one of their better attempts though.

It works, but just feels a bit strange being capped off with a border. Would probably work better if a 4:3 visual/display was used within a 16:9 environment. That's of course if the cameras are capable. Would allow the presenter to then stand to the site of the VT instead of in front of it.

I caught the first half hour of the show and on the whole was quite impressed. It had quite a nice relaxed, fresh feel to it. Personally I've always found GMTV ghastly, cheesy and smug, so I was quite surprised to find Daybreak quite watchable.

My only criticisms so far are that the set did look rather dark at 6am before the sun had fully risen, something which presumably will get worse as the mornings get darker. Also, I'm not a fan of the '5 a day' feature. I just don't think viewers really care about those kind of gimmicks. I also think it's a real shame they kept the premium-rate competitions.

I can't see me switching permanently from BBC Breakfast, but I'd certainly be more inclined to flick over when Breakfast is doing something which doesn't interest me.

The premium rate competitions is just away to earn revernu so I could never rellay see them going.

I'd argue though that they can also be a huge cost, in terms of reputation and integrity.

The benefits of the competitions far outweigh the costs though.

But surely they were one of the factors which in the end led to GMTV's demise.

Did any region fail to opt during this first show or does anyone know what the sustaining feed consists of?

Are the Loose ladies using elements of Lorraine's set ?

It's gone very pink - a big improvement actually.

Controversial: the shot of the Clifton Suspension Bridge was used on Daybreak: The West Country Today – I bet the folk of Devon and Cornwall loved that!
