Oh dearie me. They really are building Mr. Chiles up to be the next Parky / Anchorman / Burnet phenomenon, aren't they?

It's the same as the BBC were planning for him. It was his Friday night chatshow that led to him jumping ship in the first place

'Broken' ITV flop in 'name change'

Bosses have already told staff to answer phones with "ITV breakfast" and may make the switch official.

Tainting the show with ITV's name is certain to bring viewers flocking.

I suspect that has more to do with the company running Daybreak & Lorraine being 'ITV Breakfast' and someone wanting to enforce their brand/department (a bit like how 'BBC Productions' started appearing on end of programmes). Reading the wording of the article it's very vague when it comes to detail and doesn't name the source.

Watching Daybreak this morning (mainly for regional news) for the first time in ages I thought the show had improved quite a bit since the start. Watching between 7am and 7:30 things seemed to flow quite smoothly. Putting Adrian & Christine on the same side of the sofa looks better, and with the added clock & plants behind them makes for a nice camera angle during the darker mornings. I think the yellow light screens (or whatever they're called) might look better on wider shots if they used various shades of yellow.

They're getting yellow by mixing red and green LEDs (those LED strips embedded in the frame are RGB), so there's not many flavours of yellow they can get. If they didn't insist on "ITV yellow" they could have orangey tones in there - but that's probably too GMTV for them.

There's better ways to come up with lit panels, but they're stuck with these things.

the name change things is just ridiculous! If anything it needs to go back to GMTV - everyone on the street still calls it that anyway. but I cant help feeling its only couple of months old!!! Oh dear ITV, shouldn't have been so quick in the GMTV cull should you!!!

A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. Although I think they're probably pushing the ITV Breakfast name internally more because the department is also responsible for Lorraine which is successful. With hindsight it may have been sensible to keep her show as part of Daybreak, if only to manipulate ratings.

Thanks to the BBC News strike, ex-GMTV presenter Emma Crosby presented the 1 o'clock news. If the BBC trust her with that job, I think that shows ITV how hasty they were when sacking most of the GMTV on-air team. Go prove ITV wrong, Emma! Smile
