Watched from seven until the end of Loraine this morning (with it being the half term ) and Ive only rellay watched post 8am this week so noticed the changes I don't think it looks GMTV I think it looks good.

However if you look at Daybreak on the 6th september and you looked at it now very little remains the same and I think this is for the worse .

/ 5 a Day - This come in for quite a lot of criticism but it did actully ensure that daybreak did something different and I quite liked it.

/ Studio - it's changing every secound the studio daybreak launched with was fantastic state of the art but then they messed it up by putting in the light panels and now we have a back drop of yellow panels and a clock behind the main presenters which is okay but I wish they would just stick to something.

/ Features - When the show started the show was quite Newsy or certainly with features which add something to current affairs such as Johns report on that christmas pay- pack business going bust , or the report about Delhi etc. Daybreaks reporting team is strong and they should use it more but were these stories were its now all showbiz like GMTV again.

/ Presenters being no where near anyone else - Theres no need to put Kate/Steve in the green room and have Dan at a seperate desk ages away why not just let them sit on the sofa .

Okay... 5-a-day was a good item. Like you say, different. It had more of a range of stories than 'headlines'. 5-a-day was actually what we wanted to know and talk about.

As for the studio. I think it looks much better now than It did back on September 6th. The clock background they have is great. Much better than the mirror effect windows with a black background. It looks a lot warmer. - However, I'm still unsure about the panels. I want to like them. I like the idea, but it's not working yet.

Newsy? The first story on the first show was about a company that collapsed 4 years back. If I'm totally honest - I forgot that it ever existed until I seen it on day 1. It wouldn't be the story I'd chose to start a brand new 'BBC Breakfast killing' TV Show. I don't think there was even a development with the Farepak thing, so why they chose that, I don't know! They've got some good journalists, yes, and they should be used more.

Why not have the presenters in different places? The green room is great for the entertainment bit. Feels a lot more relaxed. The news area still isn't right. I don't understand why they're wasting that TV by putting it where it is. You never see it used. Sport section is good too. But can do with a bit more use too. Seems wasted just having the odd sport bulletin. Why not get some business news or something from there? Just after 6am, get all you need to know business wise from around the world, how the NASDAQ closed during the night, then just after 8, an update on the FTSE? And if that's what you think about having separate 'stations' for the presenters. Why have Lucy/Kate near the TV wall, when they can just sit on the sofa and we can get an idea of the weather by looking out the window?

This morning I flipped to Daybreak to see an expert in the studio analysing the dreams of viewers.

"Trying to run and not getting anywhere... this could represent something in your life. Anything, really, that you hope to achieve or aspire to but can't".

"Struggling to take a breath... this can be feeling stifled somewhere in your life, you know, like a feeling of oppression"

"Goodness!", says Christine, "Is it 20 past eight already?"

Yep, time flies when you're doing a Q&A on the most asinine topic you can muster.

Didn't they also have a "live-link" to the Meerkat from the Compare the Market adverts? Whose on tomorrow? Gordon the Gopher? Has Harry Hill taken over producing the show now? Laughing

Its possible, but I can honestly say I didn't carry on watching. I decided to go high brow and flipped to Boogie Beebies, or Baby Boogers or whatever it was.

Daybreak's 'record low ratings' made front page news in the Daily Mail today.

These endless negative press stories can't be good for the show as even people who do like the show will turn over if it becomes a daily laughing stock.

The Grauniad aren't renowned for their factual accuracy, but there are some good points made in that article.

The news area still isn't right. I don't understand why they're wasting that TV by putting it where it is. You never see it used.

I've seen it used just one time with the presenter turned facing it and a graphic on the screen - and it looked really good, makes a difference from the blandness of the normal view. They should use it a lot more, or even have it in shot at all times like GMTV did for most of the 2009 look.

One possible reason for the low rating this week could be due to it being half term (at least where I live). As a result more people are off work this week, and are likely to be getting up later. With Daybreak finishing at 8:30am it's quite possible those on holiday may miss the entire programme, thus lower ratings compared to GMTV (which ran until 9:25am).
