Thought Kate did a great job standing in for Loraine this morning.
I always rated Kate and thought she did not get enough praise during her time at GMTV. Strangely, she has had a "demotion" on Daybreak yet her popularity is soaring amongst forums and the media, and Christine's is rapidly going downhill. Kate is more than suitably qualified to be covering for Lorraine, she's great.

Christine's not so bad (not great either, mind you), but its Adrian I'm finding myself getting hyper-judgemental about.
This morning they had Simon Pegg to talk about the Burke & Hare movie - and Christine remarked on their impressive Irish accents in the film. Simon mentioned something about the tone and inflection and pace of that accent as being somewhat musical. Adrian chimed in to say, "its the opposite of the Brum accent... which is flat and monotone" - and I found myself harrumphing and switching over. Urgh. Does it always have to come back to *you* Adrian?
Footie and Brum... footie and Brum. His conversation runs the gamut from A to B.
Yes, maybe I'm being overly critical, but first thing on a Monday morning its going to take someone charming and interesting to make me smile.
And on that point - how nice to have Bill and Sian back on Breakfast...!
So, Adrian and Christine did the TOTH from the newswall, if we can call it that. Gavin at his desk, Showbiz headlines from it's respective perch and weather summary/headline from the beforehand unused set of screens near the sofa.
Tamzin also appears to have acquired a yellow box directly behind her, all rather symmetrical. And headlines are just two now, quite bland.
Also, they showed the long version of the Titles at 7am today, possibly because of the fact that there was a fifteen second change between Kirsty at the newswall then Adrian and Christine.
Having read that article, regardless of the number mistake, I cant say I'm very impressed with Adrian coming out and saying these things. Ok yes he feels guilty for Christine but at the end of the day there still has to be some degree of professionalism and I'm not sure saying things like that is really good publicity for the show. The key issue is that to me it feels like the one show at 6am! It just doesn't work. The reason its so much better when Kate presents is that she comes from the news background. Yes GMTV had its issues but I have to say that when there was breaking news they were pretty good. Its not a news show or at least not newsy enough - I would say LESS than GMTV. They need to sort this. I agree with the post a few days ago - it was wrong to just kill off the GMTV brand so quickly and all the presenters with it. I don't think its beyond saving but they've got a lot to do!
I think the problem here is Christine and not Adrian, she laughs at anything, shows little knowledge when discussing serious matters and she's starting to annoy me. Adrian I feel the criticism can be a bit unfair about him but I see where its coming from I think Daybreak does need to be more newsy but if I'm honest I don't think Breakfast will ever be beaten simply because if something’s perfect like breakfast why change .
Also I think the structure needs improving drastically over on BBC you can get News, Weather , Local news ,travel and weather Plus either sport or weather and you get your features and light entertainment post 8:30 at Daybreak the only items guaranteed every half hour our news and often late weather.
I am watching daybreak of a morning and its ok but there are things that need changing and I wish they would stop experimenting all the time with minor changes and the phasing them out.
I definitely agree with the comments about Dan & Kate. They are so much more watchable than Adian & Christine on Daybreak. I don't dislike Adrian & Christine but I don't think they appreciate the type of person watching Daybreak (which is not just housewives & mums that ITV would like to think it is). The show does work but just not very well with it's main presenters. I think another thing ITV failed to consider when splashing out so heavily & hurridly to get rid of GMTV because of 'bad' ratings is that is there just a natural decline in people watching early morning television? These days with people living more busier lives and media content available everywhere it's natural the television viewing will average out amongst all this. Are the days of early morning Breakfast tv programmes numbered?
I don't take the drop in viweing figures as deadly as the papers seem to (given the show is still a new born). All new programmes get an initial hyped up audience as people watch out of curiosity, then it falls, averages and then you have to hope it starts to climb again. I think ITV have to give it until early next year before making any huge changes otherwise they may run the risk of loosing the viewers still with it.
