I agree with the above comments.

Breakfast does seem too smug, and I think that's probably due to the fact they know they'll never be beat in ratings, even if they drop the budget to 1 quid.

Daybreak is enjoyable for the half-hour I watch it, and sometimes when there is a major interview or exclusive I record it for later, sometimes for me sometimes for someone else in the house.

"Never be beat"?? Why not?

Daybreak is ok, it offers something different to Breakfast so that is good. You have to give it time to grow but I can't see it dropping any further in the ratings. I can't see Adrian staying longer than a year, but I think Christine and someone else would be nice.

I don't know about anybody else, but I prefer to wake up to something entertaining & to put a smile on my face whilst giving me the stories that are happening in the world.

Have you considered watching CBeebies or CBBC, and then buying the Daily Star on your way to work to satiate your desire for a 'light touch' summary of important news events? Wink

People mocked GMTV and now Daybreak, but you get similar main news on both. Tasmin's news summary is just as useful in the morning as listening to Breakfast for 10mins with their round-up. Most of the content is the same as that's the big news for the morning.

Yeah to be fair, I have.

I hate the idea of starting the day with a miserable attitude, especially if the in depth reporting of a not so major, but depressing event has caused me to feel that way.

It may not be to your taste Stuart, but personally, I do enjoy a programme that can also entertain me.

It was painful. It felt like Harry was told to find something to involve Christine. The plugs for Daybreak were unnecessary.

Why they think this will improve viewer ratings I'll never know.

Painful ? Was barely a plug for Daybreak was there ?

Looked like a laugh to me and fitted with the item, and the context of the show. Some people need to lighten up.

"It's nice to see Christine Bleakley on ITV1 though isn't it? Not just on Daybreak where the sexual chemistry between her and Adrian Chiles fizzes and crackles like bacon..." which received no laughs from the audience. Felt like it was put in just so they can plug the show and make a mockery of the papers.

There was also no need for her to say "Hello and welcome to Daybreak with Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles" in the funny voice.

As mentioned above, it was felt Harry was told to find something to include her in. The fact that I watch Harry Hill shows I like the lighter side, but I just did not find it funny. It was just a plug and it was a shame to see that seeping into TV Burp.

Both of you have a point, to be honest.

It didn't seem painful to me - it just came over as a bit of fun; but I can't really say that Christine looked anything like the lady in the Cube - the only clue being the hair, and Christine's is past shoulder length, where the robot lady's is a short bob.

Ironically, the line in EastEnders, "out of Santa an God, who would win in a fight" was answered with "if you try too hard to be featured in this show then you won't be".

Unless you share an agent... maybe.

Nicely sticking the knife in. Since when have the BBC reported ratings news?!

Doesn't seem unfair - they reported all of Adrian's moaning about his "treatment by the BBC", reported Christine's "heartache" about making her decision whether to defect to ITV or not; and gave ITV plenty of fanfare about their new morning show.

If they didn't report the resultant ratings for this show then it would seem very odd to me.

They quite often report ratings of well-publicised or surprisingly-good/poor shows.
