I thought the whole remit of Daybreak was to be more 'newsy' than GMTV was, and it obviously isn't.

The fact that nobody thought this thread would be better suited in 'The Newsroom' shows this too.

I'm absolutely convinced the combined effort of TV Forum could produce a better show than ITV, and they have millions of pounds at their disposal.

Wow. Really? But isn't it true that the vast majority of people on here have no TV experience whatsoever? Sorry to be blunt, but...

But they certainly know a lot about what could make a good TV programme - and quite a few have a lot of experience in television and quite a few currently do work in television.

And quite clearly the executives and producers with an awful lot of TV experience at ITV are struggling to come up with good, successful and profitable television...

To be honest I dread to think what sort of programme would be produced if it was left to the members of TV Forum. Certainly the presenter rotas would be sh*t-hot... probably a bit too precise! Laughing

My comment wasn't intended to be entirely serious, per se. However, most people on the forum seem to acknowledge the bad points of this programme quite quickly, and it takes Daybreak weeks to change them.

There are many, many reasons for that, editorially, technically and managerially. Unsurprisingly, it's much easier to be a sedentary viewer on the sofa pointing out "bad points" than it is to actually put a television programme together...

Yep - though very difficult not to when such a ridiculous statement is made...

Sorry you were offended. But the idea that subjective viewer opinion at home watching the programme is as straightforward and clear-cut as programme production itself is a little far-fetched. Opinion on programming is good, but it doesn't make someone a programme-maker, at least, not a complete one!
