Daybreak is already closing the gap in year on year decline after just one month,

There must be disappointment that this is the best claim they can make after the first few weeks!

Yep - doesn't this mean "Daybreak isn't losing its audience as quickly as GMTV was losing its audience a year ago"?

So - Daybreak is still losing audience, but just not losing it as quickly as GMTV was... Great. That's a success then...

Granada Reports have confirmed on Facebook it's 6.15, 7.15 and 8.15.

Glad to see an 8.15am bulletin, that'll come in handier for me who usually works a number of late shifts.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the average viewing time for breakfast TV is 20-30 minutes, which is why the programmes are so repetitive.

This works fine for me with BBC Breakfast, as I'm guaranteed weather, news headlines and local news no matter which 30 minutes I pick.

With Daybreak I'd have more chance of missing the local news than catching it. That's not really catering for the audience, is it?

Yep - I think the BBC decided to vary the length of their regional news bulletins a few years back (probably quite a few years!) - but they are every 30 mins still.

Talking of local news, apparently it wasn't broadcast at 06:45 this morning - anyone know why they didn't hand over to the regions then?

Edit: Just found out from Twitter they have changed the times to 06:15, 07:15 and 08:15.

I caught Daybreak from 7.45 onwards this morning, have they dropped the 5 a Day thing? As it wasn't there this morning, even though they gave most of the airtime to Robbie Williams.

Even Robbie said, "you've been trailing this to death".

I switched off when Adrian started banging on about football - and as I did so, Christine was saying, "you always manage to turn the conversation to football...".

Does he? No wonder mums are switching off.

I can't bare Daybreak, I used to think Adrian was alright when he did Working Lunch and The One Show, but on Daybreak, him and Christine make me want to turn off. GMTV may have been cheesy but it was warm. Even the political guests worry me, Ad and Christine are more concerned about talking about lighthearted stuff then talking about their policies, GMTV may not have been Newsnight but they did a better job than Daybreak.

5-A-Day has been scrapped in favour of 'Headlines'

Part of GMTV's failure near the end was the lack of consistency; Daybreak have continued to change things since day 1. I said on the forum on the first day: what is the matter with calling '5-a-day' 'headlines'? They've changed that. I'm absolutely convinced the combined effort of TV Forum could produce a better show than ITV, and they have millions of pounds at their disposal.

I thought the whole remit of Daybreak was to be more 'newsy' than GMTV was, and it obviously isn't. GMTV had likeable presenters, it was quite newsy (I watched the last ever GMTV back and the headlines at the TOTH were completely the same ones as Breakfast), and was just generally warmer and more informative to watch. The local news I think has been made nearly pointless on Daybreak.

I can't believe anyone could possibly like this problem. Obviously, the viewing figures reflect that!
