The Lorraine friday show is just silly. What's the point of it being on if she only agreed to do four days? Why not call the friday show by presenters stand in name instead like Kirsty or Myleen?

Considering there is no need for it to be live surely they could film a Friday edition earlier in the week on the day Loose Women don't record in the studio.

I think the aim of the new Lorraine is for it always to be live so it can react to issues in the news/latest gossip etc. Loose Women is now live every day too, I would expect for the same reason.

Plus if it weren't live, Lorraine or her various stand ins wouldn't be able to show off her lovely big clock.

Well she's not 'away' is she, she's never supposed to be in. You make it sound like she's slacking off or something.

That's not what I was suggesting, Jugalug. Simply that her name was a poor choice as programme title.

Well what could they call it ? Daybreak without Loraine ,To me it does not matter most of the time she will be presenting it so it doesent rellay matter that much its still the same show just a guest presenting it .

If the show is the same with or without her, then why mention Lorraine at all? It's not compulsory to have someone's name in the programme title, is it?

I think the aim of the new Lorraine is for it always to be live so it can react to issues in the news/latest gossip etc.

I imagine they're just itching to use the 'BREAKING GOSSIP' strap! Wink

Just for the record, I'd commend the Daybreak team for the work they've done. I think my biggest issue is that the GMTV brand was a tarnished one for more reasons than phone-in scandals. If Daybreak is going to succeed, I can't see it doing so as another version of GMTV, and if it can then what was the need for a multi-million pound rebrand?

On a slightly different note, how much advertising has ITV done for Daybreak outside of ITV Plc itself - so excluding the ITV channels and ITV.com? How much of the audience ITV wants Daybreak to attract are watching, say, Primetime ITV to see such an advert?

Also, a question for Noggin and anyone else who knows, how long after Breakfast's (Sophie Raworth and Jeremy Bowen fronted) relaunch did it overtake GMTV in ratings?

Also in my last posts, I wasn't trying to oversimplify the audiences of such a programme, simply say that I don't think Daybreak has quite got the balance right to best attract the greatest number of people, and that many of its consumer stories feel similar to the kind seen on GMTV or The One Show.

Didn't TV-am take a while before it found it's feet?

Yeah of course, it went so badly that the company almost went bust a few months in!

The 'settling in' of TVam and GMTV was more a total relaunch rather than tinkering though. I think with Daybreak it'll be evolution rather than revolution

Funny. TV-am turned its fortunes around by appealing to what you'd probably call the lowest common denominator. If Daybreak's audience were to jump following the same course of action people would say, 'well, there might be a million+ viewers watching but they're watching crap! They should be watching something that's good for them, damnit!'

To which I would reply: they don't want to, and you can't make them.

There was a double-page ad in the Sunday Times Magazine prior to launch. Another poster here said there was an ad in the Daily Mail.

I imagine most viewers are ordinary consumers.

They are running out of content this morning on the programme, they are currently padding out the programme. We have just had the 6.45 regional news at 6.36.

No regional news in the Meridian region... so we get 2 minutes of silence and a still caption...

Sadly not, as I had just woke up. The caption was the standard slide as seen on the monitor in this picture:

I've also walked past some Billboard advertising here in Cheltenham.

Wonder what has happened to the '' Lorraine'' filmed in front of a live studio audience that was mentioned in ITV press releases etc ?

Can any members shed any light on this...

Here is the moment when they opted. I thought when the music kicked in again we were going to get to see/hear the sustaining feed but it seems that Meridian managed to opt out but had Daybreak on a slight delay on their feed so we just heard the end of the music again before they went to their slide.
